DRIVEN | Mazda launches new CX-60 crossover SUV in South Africa
Overall, the CX-60 makes for a pleasant drive and, with its roomier interior, is a welcome addition to Mazda's stable. When the diesel and hybrid versions arrive, the CX-60 range will compete favourably in the lower end of the premium mid-size SUV market. Launch prices for the CX-60 are R739 800 for the Dynamic, and R844 500 for the Individual.
Have you ever truly bonded with your car? Mazda wants you to do that with their new CX-60, launched to local media at an event near Joburg earlier in May.
Normally aspirated engines on the Highveld are a no-go for me.
A 143kW NA engine will only produce around 108kW on the Highveld on a 30 degree Celsius day. Add the heavy body and it will feel really lethargic to drive forcing one to rev the crap out of the engine all the time to keep up with traffic.
Mazda, please bring the turbo charged engines or hybrid setups to South Africa or go back to Japan.
Oh, and please bring us some decent size tyres - not decent size rims - so we can drive on potholed roads and have a comfortable ride without our teeth fillings falling out.
This is a much better option if I was in the market for a "new" vehicle.
