New Volkswagen Tiguan debuts in South Africa: pricing announced

The third-generation Volkswagen Tiguan has arrived in South Africa, boasting a completely fresh look and high-tech cabin.
Built around the company’s updated MQB Evo platform, the new Tiguan is 30mm longer than the current model, while the rest of its dimensions remain similar to the outgoing version.

Six variants are set to be offered, but not all are available at launch.
The bottom half of the line-up is powered by the familiar 1.4-litre TSI turbopetrol, producing 110kW and 250Nm, and driving the front wheels through a seven-speed DSG gearbox.
The base Tiguan, available from November, kicks things off at R651,500. But available at launch is the 1.4 TSI Life, priced at R702,800, and the 1.4 TSI R-Line, which is yours for R766,300.

The new Volkswagen Tiguan has officially launched in South Africa, with the Wolfsburg-based automaker confirming the pricing Cars.co.za had earlier unearthed. The local line-up grows by a single derivative to 6, though only 2 variants will be available at launch. Interestingly, in some instances, derivative-to-derivative pricing has been cut, mirroring the approach recently taken with the facelifted T-Cross.

Despite the fact the remaining 4 derivatives are due to arrive in Mzansi only later in the year and early in 2025, pricing for the complete new Tiguan portfolio has been confirmed. Hitting the local market a year after its global reveal, the 3rd-generation Tiguan line-up kicks off with the base Tiguan 1.4 TSI 110 kW DSG, which is priced at R651 500 and immediately available.

Please note the DSG gearbox will explode before 80 000kms. Just prepare for that.

I haven't heard of many DSG issues lately, unlike on the A5/PQ35 platform, my ex wife's Tiguan is fine, my wife's Aunt's Tiguan is fine, my SIL's Tiguan is fine, my MIL's Tiguan is fine. The MIL's is low mileage though...

My VW is on 70K with a DSG, no issues whatsoever. But I am not going to run it to 100k so can't say for future use.
