All new lines that gets activated is done with a predefined call limit. This however can be reduced on request of the client.

Vodacom can however not guarentee the line will be locked as soon as the limit is reached. It is a best effort service.

Then what's the point of setting/having a limit  if there is no guarentee?

What is a best effort service with no effort (no guarentee) :erm:

We will be calling you within 40 to 80 days before the contract term date to ask if you want to renew or cancel.

So is it a 12 month contract or 13 month contract? I would like the contract to end at month 12 and not pay a cent more. Get it.

12 month but u have to cancel it yourself. So most likely a 13-14 month contract in reality as it could take ages for them to cancel your contract...

No, Vodacom must ask me if I want to continue after month 12. Check the CPA!

That is correct. Vodacom will be in communication before the 12 month period ends...but the line will not be cut automatically without you informing us how you would like to proceed.

So if I sign up I would like to cancel my contract in month 11 so I can be done in month 12 and not pay them a cent beyond that. Why must I still pay them if the contract is only for 12 months and yet they wanna charge you for month 13

AS EXPECTED, NO TOP-UP.

Just as well I got myself another 2GB/mnth (risk free) from Cell C for R999 yesterday

Why must i inform Vodacom that I don't want to go on? What's the point of the 12 month contract then. I only signed for 12 months and then to end. It looks more like an open ended contract to me so that we can get raped.

OMG this thread is moving to quicly...I cant keep up.

Vodacom cant just cut your line without you being aware or having given permission to do so. Voice clients will scream bloody murder if we were to do this. This is why Vodacom will contact you and ask how you would like to proceed? Cancell the line or continue month to month on the then standard rate at that time.

On post paid the data takes a while to update to the billing system. This means that if you reached you call limit of x the line may not be locked as you may still be on an internet session and only once you logged of from that session , the system then updates , it sees that you have reached the limit and locks you , but by then you could already be sitting on 5 times the limit amount.

This is why the call limit lock cannot be guaranteed

like i have said a few replies back , we will be calling you to find out what you want to do , way before the end date.

Regarding the call limit feature. Vodacom will do its utmost to lock the line as soon as the limit is reached...but specially with data....if you download large files one after the other or have multiple torrents running at the same time that will overshoot the limit, the billing system may not have enough time to update with the usage for the limit to kick in. That is where the problem lies. Same goes with voice. If you are on a continus call and the limit gets overshot while you are on the call...the limit will only kick in once the call is ended, the billing system updates.

You sure about that? What happens if my 4GB is done? Voda rep?????

• This promotion is not available:
- To customers on Prepaid services;
- Top Up customers.

after 2/2GB you pay R1.20/MB

how do companies like Cell C manage their 2GB and 5GB pre-paid specials?

prepaid clients wont have to worry about limit locks , as they on a different billing platform / structure

I used to have a Vodacom 1GB per month 24 month contract. Even though I think of myself as more computer literate and technically inclined than most, I still had two monthly bills of over R1000. One was almost R2000. I monitored my usage closely but there were just a couple of slip-ups with game/windows updates which made my bills huge.

So I will go prepaid will CellC even though I could possibly pay as little as R149 for 4GB. Not worth the risk. Go over by just 100mb (which is very easy) and your monthly bill becomes R270.
