[\QUOTE] Please clarify this. Are you saying that if my airtime balance is R0.00 and my Allowed data is 0MB than Vodacom will charge me an OOB rate and just debit that amount from my bank account on the next debit run? (currently on the Cell C prepaid which is kinda hard capped because I have a data sim that I use only for data so once its used up I don't waste more cash) My data sim gonna expire soon so wouldn't mind jumping ship if the service is right.

Would it be possible for customer care to hard cap the product? ie only allow 4 GB data for the month?

If it can't be hard capped or the data limit locked than I won't get this contract. I left Neotel because they could not offer a hard cap on thier data offering.
Still no repsonse...nor clarity...

Still no response form Vodacom rep...

I think your question has probably been answered often enough, that's why VC rep is ignoring - in short: you can request a "best effort" cap of minimum R50 into OOB and that's about the long and short of it....

Hi This has been covered many times already. At this stage Vodacom cannot hard cap you , meaning that once your bundle is depleted that your service will be stopped , until you purchase another bundle.

If you continue browsing while having no bundle available you will be billed the out of bundle rate for the contract or bundle you are on.

You could have a call limit in place however the lowest amount you can request is R50.00 and it is not a Guarantee that it will lock you on R50.00 , as it can only lock after you have completed the internet session ,and by that time you could have exceeded by R200.00 as an example.

I tried to purchase an once-off data bundle via vodocom.co.za but is say I'm not eligible for the service.

Why does this promotion have this limitation, it does not make sense.

What kind of bundle; Broadband Advanced or Broadband Standard, once-off or month-to-month?
Are you on pre-paid, post-paid or top-up?

Are you referring to the 2G+2G R149 promotion? That is for a new post paid contract, you can't add it to an existing service.

Yes, I want to buy a Broadband Standard once-off on my 2G+2G R149 promotion.

So what must I do when I have completed my 2G, use OOB?

Ah, OK, with you now. Firstly I would advise against buying a once-off bundle this late in the month.
Is this promotion not perhaps an Advanced package? In which case you might only be able to add an Advanced once-off.
I'm only guessing here, but I know there is an Advanced 2.0GB and a Standard 2.3GB and Night Owl was previously only available on the Advanced bundles.

I hope not.

No, when I go the Once-Off Data Bundles menu option it just say "You are not eligible for this service". No Advanced or Standard packages are available.

Really strange, one would think VC would like to sell additional bundles.

If you finish your 2GB/2GB on the R149 promotion before the end of the month you are probably much better off just buying a pre-paid SIM and loading a once-off bundle on there.
At least then you have the option of finishing that bundle when the new month starts before switching back to your 2GB/2GB SIM.

else it's you and the OOB shark.

Bad credit rating with Voda? :p

Good point, thanks

Just to let you guys know so that you are not surprized when you want to get the deal. The K4505 modem was a interim solution to stock shortages of the K3765 modem. As you are aware...the K4505 supports 21mbps....but this modem will no longer be supplied (unless some stores still has some stock left)...instead, the K3770 (Huawei) will be supplied and supports 7.2mbps.

Good point, thanks
If you are thinking of topping up with anything less than a 300MB I suggest you check out Virgin Mobile.

I didn't know until today, but they now have 3G @ R0.60 per MB (half the bite of Vodacom's OOB shark). Presumably this is courtesy of Cell-C's new network, so make sure you have coverage and a UMTS 900 capable modem first.

I would not be using Vodacom data if I had Cell C coverage;)

But you did remind me, I can use FNB connect @ 59 cents/MB.

Thanks for your assistance!

Signing up for adsl is quicker than getting this contract at vodacom. I filled out forms at a Vodashop and was told that I would have to wait 24 hours for them to get back to me. I called today and they were out of stock, meaning I would have to wait an additional few days to get connected.
