Stable, reliable?

With antenna set up this is my speed pretty much anytime of day.

The speed used to be around 40-50mb back in the day with the new router (618-65D) it flies

How much has it been down in the 6 years I have been using Telkom LTE. maybe 4 hours in total.

Only speed issues I have had were 1.5 months ago resolved and all back to normal since.

Cant go wrong with month to month either

Please remember LTE will never be fibre. Do not compare the two. A 100mb fibre line is like comparing a ferrari to a polo vivo. You will land up coming back to this thread complaining.

It could be worse...could be on Frogfoot fibre and down since last night. Well, 2 regions (WC/EC)...right now LTE for WFH and streaming looks like it's a bargain.

LTE is normally rather backup for fibre.

But granted its a pretty penny. In fact basically cancelling my LTE soon for a 20Gb as backup.

Have work sim LTE so backup simply for WA and social media.

Phones all have large data caps. So adequate for few hours streaming.
 
Temped to guy buy this today, My biggest problem is the best speed I get when I have router right in front of my monitor where I work, which is pretty random, any other spots drop by 15Mbps :P
 
Signed away my life up and running now :p

Speeds are not great but knew that before time, just want working internet.

Will still find the sweet spot for the router

I mean that's not bad speeds? You can atleast watch Netflix and what not with ease.

Yeah everything going had bit of hickup on laptop kept loading slow, seems be ok now.

Gaming not great extra 40ms to eu, compared to rest. But stable atleast and upload is really helping, Iphones etc just seems be killing upload later in night seems they starting backing up to icloud quite early in the night

Moved my router around possible location I could place it in, turns out the best location is behind my TV, I'm switching between B1+3+40. Band 1 gives stable ping of 20ms and about 25Mbps and 6Mbps. Band 3 gives the best speeds of +-40Mbps and +-10Mbps consistently but ping is about 49+-. Band 40 is a mixed bag of uncertainty sometimes its 15Mbps and 8Mbps and sometimes is 30Mbps and 9Mbps but with 30ms ping. This is all on Auto band selection. I've since locked it to Band 3 and getting good speeds even without my Xpol 6 which I will install when my WISP dish comes down end of the month.

Overall for me its a big improvement on speeds and it's consistent all hours.

I have noticed something else strange. Create 2 wifi networks on your router 1x 2.4Ghz & the other on the 5Ghz. Name them differently. And test speeds. I always get higher download speed on the 5Ghz

No expert but I'm pretty sure that's how it can be at times. The 2.4 is stronger but the 5 is potentially quicker.

A quick Google will tell you this:

A 2.4 GHz connection travels farther at lower speeds, while 5 GHz frequencies provide faster speeds at shorter range. Your choice of 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz will depend on where and how you use your WiFi connection most.

Not strange at all if you are next to the router 5ghz will give you higher speeds always, the further you get away it decreases 2.4 is pref for far distances but reduced speeds.

basically there is a point 2.4 will be better than 5 but at the source 5 wins.

My house has all data intensive units like pcs/streaming boxes hard wired via gigabit connection.

Rest of the house meshed

The sonoffs solar etc are on 2.4 ghz
Roaming cellphones/Ipads/laptops on 5ghz

Yea guys I understand the concept but it should not be making a difference at all with any speeds less than 100mbps. 2.4GHz should output theoretically the same speed as 5Ghz at a close distance from the router. Especially since these speeds are not fast at all.

If you have a 100mb fibre line. 2.4ghz/5ghz will give you the exact same speed test results at close distance.
