2TB Anytime data

I stream two TV's watching lots of live sports. Will this 2T be OK with no buffering. They don't indicate the speed on this contract. I am scared I will run out of data?

You should know your own usage.

Mesh/hardwire your network but speeds you could expect

A couple of last tests before I decide to join the club.

This is with a LAN connection to the router in the best spot close to the PC.

MyBB
Ping: 42ms
Download: 61.9Mbps
Upload: 4.87Mbps

Speedtest.net
56.11 down, 4.77 up
Ping 23

63.05 down, 5.01 up
Ping 28

It seems to be decent enough and on par with what I get on the 5GHz Wifi.

Now to make my final decision once the new month starts.

I can't seem to get above 35mbps down on ookla anymore (it was fine a few weeks ago) yet a steam download will settle at 100mbps. I can't complain but I see all the results here and I'm a bit confused as to why. Fast.com will give me 85mbps on the standard short test.

Could anyone with a TP-Link MR600 please check which bands it shows that can be aggregated on Telkom. I'm particularly interested if it allows B3+B3.

It seems loadshedding is taking it's toll in our area, speed drops down to 0.00mb/s and 2.5mb/s download. My Vodacom sim gets 60+mb/s during this time.

I think the tower gets hammered during load shedding as everyone's fibre goes down and people resort to using cell phones, I hope I'm wrong.
Most fibre stays up during load shedding. Some network towers don't have backup power or the battery doesn't last long hence the network is usually bad during load shedding.

Mine drops to 25 down, 10 up during loadshedding. Latency stays low so good enough to keep working and keep others in the house entertained enough.

I'll have to do more research, but from what I can gather from the neighbours is that the fibre goes down in our area (octotel). Last night during loadshedding lte was flying then after an hour or so it was down to about 2mb/s again.

Anyone else unable to access http://onnet.telkom.co.za/ ? I need to load a data bundle for speed tests but the site isn't loading and the ZTE doesn't have USSD functionality.

Seems Vodacom messed around with a tower "upgrade" and since then my Telkom speeds seem lower. Wanted to do some more tests before placing my 2TB order.

I was using the R529 "uncapped" promo for many years before upgrading to the 2TB offer.

The R529 package worked through a 5 day power outage in the area, zero downtime but the now, the 2TB package doesn't make it through more than an hour to 90 minutes of load shedding before tapping out.

Wonder if the tower configuration has changed from the R529 to the 2TB?

I would imagine everything to be exactly the same as it was before.

Disappointing man!! A big incentive to upgrade was the performance during load shedding...

Yeah seems the 'golden spot' I had in one of the rooms where I got a full 5 bars is now gone. Just can't seem to manage the speeds I used to get before.

Stupid question. On the ZTE MF286C's UI it switches between LTE and LTE-A constantly. Is this normal, or should it stay on LTE-A only when it's on LTE-A? Anyone know?

Ordered the 2TB deal through Afrihost this morning. After completing the order I got a weird message saying"
"Passport Verification

Please note that your order will be placed on hold until you have finished the verification processes of your passport. Once your order is placed, you will receive an email with instructions on how to complete this process."

I'm a SA citizen and I didn't select anything related to a passport during the sign-up process. Anyone else signing up through them seen this? @AfriNatic

That is odd. Can you send me a pm with your email address so I can double check if there is any issues with the order?
