360 hard drive.

Talking about the HDD for gaming.

... but I agree'd on having a HDD for some people. I just don't feel it's a bragging right to say 'my console has 250GB and yours only 60GB'

But as mentioned, the person buying the Arcade should have researched and he'd know there was no HDD. I doubt many will be surprised at the fact when they open the box ;)

At least sell a product to enjoy the full gaming experience. You don't see BMW selling cars with tyres as optional right?

No ; BMW sell you a car that drives, at the very least. Xbox sells a console that plays games, at the bery least.

You want a sunroof? You pay. You want wireless? You pay.

O.M.G ..... months and months down the line and still this is used  How is an Arcade owner not getting this 'full gaming experience' you speak of, please do enlighten us

yeah im also waiting?
Forza 3 requires 1.9GB space to enjoy fully. Grand theft auto DLC. Even some games has a HDD logo to "warn" xbox arcade owners that if they buy the game, they require a HDD. A "full" gaming experience is to use to be able to use everything that the developers has given to enjoy each game to the fullest. To say that you only play offline does not mean you get the "full" gaming experience because you have not explored the online component.

tyres are required, same as you dont see MS selling the CPU as optional, dont compare totally irrelevant things

GTA DLC is available on disc, Forza has optional extras, it is no different to DLC, you dont need DLC to enjoy a game 100%, or do you buy every bit of DLC for every game you own

The same goes for a Wii, the same for the PS3: you can't play The Eye of Judgment without Playstation Eye, you can't play Dance Dance Revolution without a mat! However, you can still play most games without additional peripherals.

But we are not comparing HDD sizes here. We are comparing having one to not having one.

Does everyone know what a HDD is?

Corrected!

Yeah! Thats what I am trying to tell you that M$ is making you pay!

When my brother first bought his PS3, he couldn't experience the full potential of the unit for a few months with his 54cm CRT :/ I personally think there should be a big sticker on the box pointing out the fact that he won't be able to enjoy the full potential.

They should start combining them with 8 channel sound systems and HDTV's to enjoy the full experience.

And its like completing a game through the first time without unlocking everything will be enjoying the game to the fullest? Not playing the MP? A lot of extras that you can only be exposed to can only be accessed with a HDD.

True, but without a HDD, the list gets a bit narrower. ;)

BMW is doing the same thing! They CHARGE for a sunroof!
Samsung CHARGE for the wireless dongle on their TVs!
Many computers EXCLUDE monitor
Even software comes in a Basic and Advanced (which you pay extra for).

That's kinda the way things work :/

And I am sure you got your fancy HT experience to enjoy your music/movies to the fullest right? Or why would you shell out so much money if it gives the same experience as a medicore R2500 DVD player & speakers?

And if you can get all that bundled in one for a great price, would you not go for it?

You guys said MS sell Arcades to uninformed users that don't know much, and it limits what they can actually do with the console when they bring it home

I'm saying Sony sold the PS3 to him and neglected to mention he needs an HDTV and 8 channel sound. He didn't know - and was disappointed.

Well if I could get acore BMW (sans sunroof, electric seats, auto headlights, auto rain sensors etc) at R300,000.00 - and one that included all of that at R350,000.00 ... I'd probably go for the cheapest tbh.

I may not be as rich as you guys, so R50,000.00 is still R50,000.00 at the end of the day. Plus - how often am I going to use the features?

What would be great, is if my budget was R320,000.00 and I could say 'well, throw in the sunroof and rain sensor, please!'

Or maybe my PC is going to be a zombie unit - so I don't need a monitor, as I remote into it. Saving R2,000.00 is pretty awesome imo.

The argument is how the lack of console capability can limit your gaming experience and not the lack of external hardware. If the console has the capability, you can choose to use it or not.

Ok.....I thought we were discussing a HDD as being mandatory item? We were not going into the other extras that the PS3 has like wifi & Bluray because then your argument would be valid.
How about for eg. airbags? Before it was not a requirement but now it is. But airbags only get used when you have an accident. You don't use it everyday do you? But I am sure you would buy a car with airbags without even thinking of it as an extra?
