3G connection problems since yesterday

wow, you know there is an edit button right?!?!?!
-------------

Anyways... only logical conclusion based on what you said is a phone problem.

If you tried it on two seperate desktop computers (its not a computer)
Works in wife's phone, (not network, or your simcard)
works on your phone (tells you that your phone has correct settings)
the issue is between the software contacting your phone.

Either its a mistake you making twice, or there has been a corruption on the protocol speaking to your phone. Can you copy music/data files to and from the phone? (using computer) that should prove the data cable is still working fine.

Otherwise take the phone to Customer Care and get them to make it work on one of their system...

Off Topic: Please dont blame Vodacom (i.e Vodaocom 3G) for being quite, it is extremely difficult for anyone to assist or give advice on technical issues if they are not physically sitting infront of the computer or using that phone. There are millions of different configurations of hardware and software, not to mention version numbers, and almost impossible to diagnose a problem.

We are all trying our best to help you, if you went to the MTN section you wont even find anyone TRYING to help you... so yeah, go get away from Vodacom, go to MTN and let them help you.

I really dont want to sound rude, but we are actually trying to help you.

Sometimes it's such specific conditions that the symptoms throw all of us: :)

In this case, it's a specific number range, in a specific phone type and only when the phone is used as a modem.

(And I think the phase of the moon also plays a role!)

So in this case:

1) ZV10 with Johan's number can browse the internet directly from the phone - so logically the phone <-> network connection seems fine.
2) The PC can access the ZV10 and browse files, etc. - no problem there
3) Trying to connect as a modem results in failure.

4) Same SIM in new phone works.
5) Different SIM in ZV10 works.

This has been escalated and is receiving urgent attention.

Anyone else using a phone as a modem, your feedback will be appreciated:

1) What model phone are you using as a modem.
2) Your first 3 numbers of the SIM, i.e. 082-999-xxxx
3) Is it working, or not.
4) If not, when did it stop working.

Ok guys...I have got the same phone and I got connected...

What I did:

Installed USB driver on the Samsung CD
Installed Samsung PC Studio
Then I ran Samsung PC Studio
Went: File--->Connection--->USB--->Connect--->OK
Manage Internet Connections--->Next--->Create--->Choose 1st 2 options other--->Number *99#--->APN 'internet'--->Leave the rest blank

Ok..then go Start--->Connect To--->The Connection You Have Just Created

have you tried calling the local sangoma to come and bless the phone and scare off all evil entities on the phone and pc? or maybe a Voodoo priestess?

This problem was identified and addressed as few days ago by changing some parameters that affected only specific phone models.

If anyone still has this problem (error 718 when using the phone as a modem) please let me know so I can check if you were skipped in the updates that went out.

Wik1d, send me your number in any case please.

Hi JohanDuToit2000

I seem to have the same issue as recorded by you. I'am using a 079... number and have the same results using different sim card.

Was wondering if Vodacom3G was able to help you?

If so, could you forward any message that could assist me??
