Just tried "GPRS/EDGE Only" and I can connect - QOS, up and down 8640.000
The QoS will be completely different when you connect on 3G. Somehow we need to find out what the upgrade was that was done to my tower and request that they do it to yours! Please PM me your cell IDs.

Same problem here...have a k4605 running mobile partner v21 and can connect to all the other networks (3G) but not to cell c, except to the 2G cell c network, even though the 3G network is available - if i try and connect to it it just keeps on terminating the connection.

I think we're on to something here. Please PM me your contact telephone number [-]and city[/-] as well as the cell ID you are trying to connect to.

I see your location is Mafikeng. :D

Cell-C are aware of a problem with the Vodafone K4605 / Huawei E372 modems on their network in certain areas.
The symptom is being unable to establish a connection on 3G even with good signal and being registered on the network, connecting on 2G works fine.

For current status, see first post.

Vodafone K3772

Hi Guys

Probably the 10 millionth tread on modems, but I'm so busy I don't have the time to start searching and doing the research myself.

I've got one of those CellC 2gig a month sim only specials and now I need a modem.

I want a modem that won't break the bank but I really don't want it to disconnect every 10 minutes either.

Will the K3772 be a reliable modem or am I wasting my time and money here.

Please give me your opinions or alternatives.

Thanks

K3772 - max download 7.2Mbps
Huawei E367 - 8ta - R700 i think - max download 21.2Mbps
Huawei E372/K4605 - vodashop - R1400 -max download 42.2Mbps

Middle of the road & i haven't read of too many unhappy people = E367
I wouldn't get an E1820 & a few ZTE owners seem to be having problems as well
E372 seems a good modem also but bit more premium on the price - price will probably come down once the E392 hits the streets @ 100Mbps.

Hi Tun@

Thx so so much for you input, usually I would read up myself but things are just out of control at the moment.

If anyone else would like to give some info, please feel free.

Hi guys can someone please help me
I have a Vodafone k3765 modem
I have flashed the firmware to replicate the cellc E1820 modem following the steps as per www.dc-files.com
Everything went except that I cannot connect to the internet using mobile partner and it does not open the Vodafone software anymore

The K3765 is not equivalent to the E1820, I think that it is hardware compatible with the E1762.

Maybe you used the wrong firmware ? There is a thread on this, search for it.

I have converted a K3765, it works fine (not a great modem, though).

I have tried a Vodafone K4605 (Huawei E372), I am unable to connect on 3G even though signal strength is good and modem is registered on the network.
Connecting on '2G Only' works fine, if I try and switch to '3G Only' while connected the connection is dropped.
Morkhans tells me the modem connected on 3G in Port Elizabeth, but only after the 42Mbps launch.
My negotiated QoS downlink value changed from 16000 to 21000 sometime this weekend and now I am able to establish a 3G/HSPA+ connection.
It has been confirmed now that in order for you to establish a 3G connection with a Vodafone K4605 (Huawei E372), Cell-C need to do a software update at the RNC.
I'll keep a list of the areas known to work and not work in the first post of this thread.

Thanks elf_lord_ZC5, Tun@, Jola and everyone else for testing and feedback.

Now can connect with K4605 and get similar download speeds as with my E367 - was told Cell-C had to do a software upgrade to enable this. Thanks to GINNGS and Cell-C for their efforts.

Tested the external antenna connection of the Cell C ZTE MF668 at a friend's place. The external antenna connection reports the signal from the external antenna correctly.

However, we nearly wrote off my friend's CRC-9 connector he was using on his E367. We had to press very hard to get the connector into the ZTE modem. Seems the ZTE requires a TS9 connector

I know the Vodafone K4505-Z (which I think is a rebadged MF668) doesn't use a CRC-9. How sure are you that it is a TS-9 though?
