3G iPhone

That's true, but for R1500 no other phone will be able to provide the same specs. Not even mid range phones go for that price, not to mention anything that would come close to the iPhone 2. It just seems way too good to be true,

If Mr Jobs says the price will be $199 Worldwide then we defiantly have a concrete price.

Hell! Even if Vodacom put a bit of markup for Customs and Excise and to make a pretty penny and charge R2500.00 for the iPhone, thats pretty damn cheap for what you are getting. Blimey! It's cheaper than the iPod Touch at the moment.

The actual price of the iPhone 3G in the US is $199 WITH an AT&T contract. The phone will not retail on its own for $199. This info can be found on the official iPhone page under a footnote marked with an asterisks.

Earlier reports suggested that the contract subsidies roughly $200. So retail without a contract you are looking more at $399 possibly up to $499.

Even at $499, thats a direct conversion to rands of R3943 which is still cheaper than the competition. HTC Touch/Diamond and the Nokia N90 series.
