40% drop in ADSL prices?

I remember this same hopeful discussion was around in March/April, everyone hoped for a priced drop, or bandwidth adjustment and guess what ... NOTHING.

Hope as we may, its telkom we are talking about, they are way to greedy and innefficient to do anything that may be benificial to the client.

i think my 384 line's price is not that bad

i think 500 for 10 gig of data is shocking

bring back the cheap 30 gig accounts and leave the line pricing alone

384 plus 30 gig for under 600 rand would really work well in this ripped off country

telkom has eyes everywhere when you bend over they just rape you over and over, its damn sad man

Agreed, 100% :D

I for one hope it is true. It will be SO GOOD for the local market and the people of SA!

mmmmmmmmmm... *fart* okay - i'll hold my breath till monday - but when nothing happens, i promise i won't say "I told you so!"

Here is my take, and the reasons why I think there may be an element of truth in these rumours-

Telkom is announcing their 2005/6 profits on Monday. Their profits are going to be in the region of R9 billion - R9,5 billion. People are going to be p1ssed. People and the media are going to attack Telkom over their huge profits. So what is Telkom going to do? Simple, make a big price-decrease announcement to deflect attention from thier profits. People and the media will be so happy ADSL prices have decreased that people will probably stop paying attention to their profits, and the main story of the day will be price-decreases, not preposterous profits.

Debbie2, this might work in another country, not in SA ... 9 billion profit only means that next year they can make 12 billion, and they will ...

I am sure some day they will "upgrade" the line speed, but how much does this cost them? nothing! regardless of what your line speed is, you will still be downloading as much as you can afford at R70 or so per gig ...

so anyone finding their 192 giving 384speeds? LoL

Congrats to the telkom techies, i owe u a drink or 2 :)

Very good news, apparently the 1 mb rental is going to be R515-00
Its a minor reduction - they started off charging to much and even after this pittance of a price cut they still are.

It will be very good news when we can favourably compare our prices with those of other countries - even Kenyan's pay less than we do

for 6GB + 192 kbps now you pay R862, from 1st of August for the same you will pay R837 !!! So this apparently is a huge ADSL price relief!!!!!!!!!! WTF!!!
that is absolute bullsh1t, and only means that for at least another 12 months we will pay this exorbitant prices !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
