8.3l/100km I mentioned is combined (manufacturer claim and same as Hyundai)... real world should be around 10l/100km for both...

Going from a D3 to a SantaFe is a major downgrade - I will bet money that you will hate every minute of it.
Air suspension issues are easily fixed on the D3, as long as you stay away from the stealers. Get it fixed by a reputable indie and your D3 will last forever.
Going from a D3 to anything but a RRS/RR is a downgrade. Sadly, even a Defender is a downgrade.
It's out of maintenance so the suspension is going to cost around R60k to fix, and a friend who has just gone through the same palava and spent the R60k has just had schit with his again - same bloody issue. They even brought out a spring suspension version in the Disco 4 afaik because of the schit they had with the Disco 3 suspension and the perception issues it has caused...
