have a 6km link that can do up to 60mbits using Mikrotik's Router OS on 2 PCs

i'm sure the new RB433AHs can do it

50mbits!! All I need is around 2mbits over a 200m link - I wish I could get that right :)
What hardware do you reckon would be best.

(There is a Senao AP, and a RB133c at the moment - all on the roof)

You should get 2mbps easily over that link, maybe change channels a bit. What type of antennas you got?

I think that is where the irritation lies :o

I'm connecting my brother and my dad, they are on opposite sides of my house - so I have an 8dB omni. My brother and I now need a faster link.

Fastest I can get by switching channels is 1.2Mbps.

Rather use panel antennas, much more directional, you want your signal and signal quality as good as possible. A better router will also help, much more processing power to get that packets moving out faster.
Just watch out, your roof will end up like mine http://www.ctwug.co.za/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=2701 . Wi-Fi isn’t a hobby, it is an addiction. The only thing holding me back is the space on the pole.

My "communications" pole has the housing, omni, sat dish, and tv aerial. If I add the RB433 it will start looking something like yours!

skydog are you using two antennas or a dual polarized dish?2 dishes each side?
how many radios ect,or are you binding them 2gether on the end ?
will 1 vetical,1 horizontal dishes do it?(on each side)

We using 1 antenna and one radio on each side. it is not a dual stream link. have to admit it is about 55-60mbits 1 way so 30 mbits transferring both ways
I think they are 27dBi grids

Hey skydog is there anyone in the Gillitts/Hillcrest area that one can connect to?
