640 Kbps ADSL upload trial completed

It's going to be useful to have the additional upload speeds but what about all the other packages? Only the people paying for premium service (for SA that is) get the "nice-to-have's".

I wonder how long it will take to analyse this information and decide to deploy. I mean come. either it works or it doesn't. Let your connection sync at whatever upload speed it can.
 
I can't understand why they can't give us real, decent upload speeds. I mean wtf am I supposed to do with 640kbps? That's a bladdy joke. I want 4mbps upload speed.
 
I'll check tonight and see if I can upload at 640kbps.

What Telkom says and what Telkom does is 2 very different things :D
 
Telkom launched a pilot project in February to test the increased upload speed of its 4 Mbps DSL product. This pilot involved increasing the minimum downstream sync rate to 640 kbps.

Isn't it supposed to be "upstream":confused:?

Anyway, 640kbps is way better than 384kbps

Edit: The trail is completed, now we will have to wait until the implement it :( wonder if it will be ready by 2011?
 
looks as if Telkom is trying hard to give all they can before Neotel's consumer launch

aaah!? is the max download speed on a 4mbs line 512kb/s... how can they get a 640kb/s upstream then?

I would happily give up the 4Meg line just for Telkom to answer the phone. My wife has spent at least 8 hours waiting on the phone for various ADSL problems this week. The shortest time being 45 minutes waiting and the longest 1 hour and 50 minutes before she gave up.

Max is 384kbps

It’s the nature of ADSL … Its an asymmetrical service (upload and download will never be the same
