7.2 Mbps HSDPA with bandwidth rollover

Doesnt reccord my data. How to activate it?? Is the MDMA working with Novatel?

Still not getting any better speeds. Any other suggestions. Iv tried upgrading the firmware, downloaded the latest ver of Vodafone Mobile Connect.
 
I took a while to digest Advanced Broadband and as it currently stands I really think Vodacom could have done things better (if not simpler).

The good
  • Roll-over: Not quite what everyone had in mind, but it is a start. Thanks.
  • Free 3.6 and HSUPA: Good move. Some will say it's been free on MTN for a while, what took you so long. Personally I think holding back for sufficient backhaul was a good call.
  • 7.2 is here.

The Bad
  • Paying more for the data bundle in order to get better OOB rates. Vodacom could have kept this simple and just maintained the current bundle prices and dropping the OOB rates. Thus maintaining the familiarity of the existing packages and rewarding customers who already commit to bundles with better OOB rates.
  • Attaching 7.2 to Advanced Broadband. They should have maintained the VAS service like they did with 3.6. Your area may not have enough backhaul and as ic points out this obfuscates the costs. So where is the value?

The Ugly
  • Same bundle rate for everyone. Contract, Pre-Paid, Ad-hoc. The only people benefiting here are new 24 contract subscribers who get a "free" modem (subsidised no doubt by the other Advanced Broadband users). What was Vodacom thinking?

So here is my situation: I am on a voice contract with month to month data bundle. Being on contract I have the joys of delayed billing. So if I want better OOB rates for just in case. I have to pay more for my bundle, forfeit a "free" modem, and have 7.2 available to me which I don't really need. The only alternative here is to be a bit more conservative with my usage and let the data roll over to the next month, which is what I will be doing.

The people who benefit the most from Advanced Broadband are new customers by virtue of the fact that they get a free modem, what about existing customers?

until someone registers speeds in excess of 3.6 (consistently, not just at 2am) then ill say theres value to 7.2, which would probably justify the additional cost of advanced. at the moment, people are paying for a myth...
