Seems to me this data contract is a myth, I cant find any shops that offer these packages, even on their site where they show you shops available with 8ta products.

After standing in the queue for approximately 45minutes, I get told they don't sell that contract at that shop, would have been nice to know somehow before entering the store in the first place.

I would recommend anyone hardy enough to want to get this contract, to first phone that store and inquire about the deal before going over.

I wasn't hardy enough and decided that my connection fee was better spend at mc donalds.
 
I just got back from the Telkom/8ta office at the Irene Village Mall (Centurion). They had stock and even checked coverage on their own internal website that is more precise than the coverage map on their public website. I get signal and the only reason I didn't get my SIM today was because I didn't have my latest payslip with me. Going back on Friday, which should prevent any billing errors (e.g. 8ta billing me for June) :wtf:
 
My mate walked into cresta yesterday and got the contract almost immediately?
 
Avoid Centurion Mall and Midrand Boulders Mall.

Thanks I'll try the Irene Village Mall.
 
On the other thread, they've mentioned how long and tedious it is to get the contract.

The book of documents required, formed to be filled and hours of waiting time for R200.00pm is one thing that's been annoying me :/

Yeah, I've been waiting since Sunday morning basically (admittedly I only provided the bank statements on Monday) - but no luck yet. The agent that helped me only works half day or something, and no one else can help me....luck of the draw? Dont see how they should be making this my problem though.

Not sure where you got your information from, but I went there yesterday, the lady told me they weren't doing the 10gig contract :confused:

I can get you her number if you'd like...

I got mine quite smoothly. Try the bigger stores. They are usually more clued up or order via phone.081125 I think

@8ta rep. Sorry to say but Centurion Telkom store turned me away yesterday. According to them they don't have the ability to help anyone with this deal. If this changes please inform them and us.

I have just tried phoning Centurion to confirm, but their phone mailbox is full. No luck again.

@8ta rep. Before I spend a good chunk of time standing in queue again and then being given bad service by apathetic store staff at the Telkom Direct Greenstone, could you please clarify for me whether I can in fact use my vodafone Huawei E620 modem by having it re-flashed(8ta firmware installed) and if yes, then which store can I go to because TDirect Greenstone had no idea what I was talking about when I asked.

I will need to confirm if the E620 is compatible. In theory it should work. Alternatively you can get yourself an 8ta prepaid SIM, just to see if your existing device allows other providers SIM cards.

Instead of standing in a queue, you can place an order by phoning us on 081 125.

I would avoid the Telkom store in Centurion Mall, they took 20 minutes to RICA a 8ta sim card and weren't very friendly through the process. Also have had hassles dealing with the on ADSL related matters. Have had better service from the Telkom Store in Irene Village mall..
 
Can i get a micro sim and a normal sim on this contract. Obviously only using 1 at a time. Micro in ipad, Normal in 3g wireless routwr?. So, 1 contract, 2 sims?.
