8ta 10gig myth

I can say this... dont sign up at Nashua mobile.... they dont apply in store, they have to send your documents through to telkom and they apply for you...... can take up to 24 hours....

I just walked into a Telkom direct store and 15min later walked out with my 8ta:-)

My experience at two 8.ta stores in Midrand...

Telkom in the Boulders said the 10GB promo is not fully rolled out there. They did give me a form and showed me an 8.ta USB modem and quoted prices although they are still awaiting more stock.

AutoPage in Sanridge (next to PnP entrance) says the same; they have the 10GB promo banner in the store room but until 8.ta is ready with putting systems in place (presumably admin systems) they don't have confidence to promote it yet.

I'm seriously tempted to get the 10gB deal. Do you HAVE to sign a 24month contract for it though?
 
K@kkArlak: you have to sign 2-years contract and cancellation of contract will cost FULL AMOUNT for these 2 years.
 
rodga: I say words from TWO REAL OFFICES of 8ta. You cite some guy on forum. Who is better informed? Stop this R800 myth, real cost is R4800. Ask 8ta guy if you still believe in "good Telkom" :)

For Internet 5 Promo:

We will not claw back on any service elements as part of a termination, but only physical hardware which was supplied plus the relevant administration fee. Therefore, any service provided over a fixed term which was supplied without a handset/data device will only carry the R800 administration fee as the termination fee. No further claw back will be done.

Trust me, i hate contracts, the only reason i signed up was that there was a way out, lol :D
 
One more thing, the guys at the 8ta stores and the Telkom stores are clueless and adamant about the cancellation of contracts, the only guys in the know how are the guys at 8ta themselves, dont bother with the sales personnel..

This would be a win for 8ta as you get money upfront for 6, 12 months and it broadens the market as contracts entail more checking (credit etc).

Well, pity I'm not an american lawyer :) but describe please in plain english this: "any service provided over a fixed term...". Which term they are talking about? 2 years of contract? Well, "over" means "after 2 years passed" - right?

Wrong, it means any fixed term contract will attract an "admin fee" of R800 on early termination.

Heh... Wasn't it enough to say "Contract cancellation costs R800"?? Hate this word puzzle.
 
Well that's super BS.... 2 years is super long to commit to it. As with anything else tech-wise, in 2 months there will be a better offer :-/

What does the 8ta 3g modems cost?

Agree... but if it stays like this then im happy:-) Cant have ADSL because my stupid complex wont do telkom cabling....
