8ta: FAQs

They don't have them in Edgars Cape Town and at CNA the 128k sim is 99c.

Strange cause I live in a Town. Richards Bay. They had like a whole big stand of them. If I had to guess easy over 200 simcards there.

You know these stands they usually throw the simcards in. One of those and with a sign. "Take one Its free. Your new mobile network is here. 8ta"

who calls their network Heita? I hate -a it already. Idiots

Don't matter what you call it - result of 8.ta = VC drops prepaid to R1.40. Wonder when contract prices will drop!

Rumours are that 8.ta will bring in contracts end of Nov, so maybe then.

Number porting works. I've no idea about overseas roaming - I always just buy prepaid in whatever country I'm in.

Once -Off Internet Bundles:
100MB @ R50 (R0.50/MB)
250MB @ R100 (R0.40/MB)
500MB @ R150 (R0.30/MB)
1GB @ R 250 (R0.24/MB)

I know there is a rollover but how long before the data expires?

From Terms and Conditions:
"Prepaid, once-off and add-on data bundles will expire at the end of the next calendar month from the date of activation"

Thanks - so it makes sense to activate the bundle on the 1st of november rather than the 28th of October. :o

Is there anyway to buy airtime online? I RICA'd my sim card but although my telephone number was supposed to be sent to my vodacom number it only appeared once I got home and put the sim in my other phone.

8ta is not usable. The echo is unbearable, like Hello!!!Hello!!!What'sWhat'sGoingGoingOnOn. I bought R30 airtime and made a miss call to my Vodacom phone. Checked the balance, Now R28.50.
Next phoned my sister and brother on land line Telkom numbers, each for less than a minute. My balance is now R26.**
Basically R30 down the drain for this experiment. So be warned.
I'm willing to join the choir at Telkom's funeral.
Cell C 4Gs 5GB/month flies on my Macbook, Windows XP and Ubuntu 10.1. I'm extremely happy with 4Gs.

I wish 8ta all the luck they can get. We always moan that there is no competition to Telkom in ADSL. Well there is no real competition to Vodacom and MTN in the cell industry and their prices are sky high. They drop the interconnect rates but has your calls become cheaper? Bring in the competition, it will cause the other big boys to keep on their toes. Maybe we can eventually all benefit

Oops, I have zero MTN reception at home. In fact only Cell C data is really good.

OK, I bought an 8.ta SIM in order to test.

Firstly, really poor reception in Sandton, Johannesburg.

Secondly, I bought a R5 voucher in order to make a test call to test the voice quality - as soon as I loaded the voucher the R5 disappeared, so it won't even let me make my test call.

Total fail, 8.ta is useless, I will just throw the SIM cards away (I bought two).

So what's your question?
Q: What is the minimum balance required to make a call?
