I've been reading on this forum that 8ta is going to launch their LTE promotion sometime in April. I've also been looking at the LTE coverage on their website, and I'm not anywhere near a covered area. What are the chances of them covering my area before the promotion is launched?

Can the 8ta rep please give me some feedback.

Coverage map didn't change since LTE trial has started. It doesn't make sense to update maps while public is not able to use it. I think map will be updated simultaneously with new announcements. So be patient...

the 8ta/Telkom Mobile LTE map has actually changed quite a lot!

03.11.12 LTE.JPG @ 3 Nov 2012
09.01.13.JPG @ 9 Jan 2013
21.03.13 LTE.JPG @ 21 Mar 2013]

Don't understand why it gets smaller each time. Maybe their computer estiamtions are a bit generous. Some of the coverage areas from the latest map are minute! Look at the rivonia one - I'd assume the tower is on top of a building (due to the nature of the area) and coverage barely extends a few hundred meters (<500m I would estimate)

I just wish they would make some announcement. I'm afraid that if I wait, I will lose out on the 10GB contract, but if I rush into the 10GB contract, and a better LTE promotion comes around, I'm stuck in that contract for 24 months.

You're not alone. :(

Highly doubt they will make an announcement and they will probably be at normal data rates. They in the process of scrapping PSB promotion so highly doubt we will see any exciting news.

If they don't make an announcement before 31 March, then I will forced to get the 10GB promotion

I also think I'm just gonna get another 10GB promo today.

But it pains me to think that if there's better contracts next month, R199 a month is almost a new Samsung Galaxy S3 contract. :(

Don't do it. 2 years ago it was a good deal but will it still be a good deal 8 months from now?

I don't know, kingrob, I don't know. :(

All we can hope for is an announcement from 8ta/Telkom Mobile, before month end, as to what and when we can expect the LTE contracts & what the pricing of HSPA+ data bundles will be.

Think I read somewhere that the CEO of 8ta said the LTE bundles would be 50GB and priced at R699....but for a stable connection, then I can just as well invest in ADSL.

I am just sick and tired of the anticipation I want to know what prices will be available on LTE once Telkom Mobile do launch commercially and will it be reasonable for prepaid/postpaid customers. I am not willing to pay R699 for 50gig might as well get ADSL installed and get my value worth.

I am on the 60-60 gig lasted me 1year using it conservative without watching youtube videos.

Does anyone know how much it would cost to cancel the 10GB contact?

Coverage map did change since trials.. I was about a 2 blocks away from coverage but now I am just covered. The map shows my house is covered but my street isnt . I wonder if they gonna maybe have prepaid LTE so we can test the service first before we sign a contract.
