I have never in my life experienced a company who cares so little for their customers, it is a bloody disgrace. I purchased a 60+60 GIG bundle after checking whether my area is covered, but my download speeds are virtually non-existent. It is so bad sometimes that Speedtest can't even complete.

I e-mailed 8ta, no response I phoned their client services several times over a period of weeks to request a technician to come out. They phoned me back once on a Sunday evening at approximately nine and as some people still go to church I missed the call, but I phoned client (I laugh) services the following Monday and again the following week, but to date no response

Should have known better than to make use of Telkom from previous experiences. I requested a ADSL line some time back. And again phoned and phoned, but gave up eventually. Great service Telkom, thank you.

I have two Telkom junction pylons in my backyard and Telkom often phone asking me to come to my house to open so that they can test their landlines, last week again and I could not get time off from work that time and the technician actually got rude with me on the phone and started a big argument.

No more Telkom, never again will I take time from work and drive home to help you. You can take your excellent customer service, your ADSL line and your pylons and stick them. you know where. :mad:
 
I've been using the 60GB bundle since launch, speeds are decent and stable. I tested out with a prepaid sim first, best way to determine coverage.
 
You are correct, I should have mentioned that I did that and my speed were on avarage 1.2 to 1.4 Mbps on Speedtest, which I could live with that since my Cell 5 GIG promo ran out. My speeds on Cell C was on avarage 7 Mbps, but the 8ta bundle was financially a better option than to re new with Cell C. I bought the 3+1 GIG bundle to test, but my speeds got worse, much worse, over time.
 
I'm on the 10+10 contract for R299/mo. Just did a speed test -- I'm getting 8.9 MBPS, absolutely great.
 
I just phoned the customer support and there is no option to speak to an operator...my downloads speeds are complete crap, im on hspa and getting speeds of 8kbps for the last month. I live in a building with an 8ta tower built on top of it. An extension cable does not and will not work because it was working perfectly in December, and i was on wcdma. What changed?

Heloooooooooo 8ta rep, you still around? Please do not give me the standard reply of sending info to [email protected] as I have done so several weeks ago without a reply. I want a direct contact that I can deal with to help me resolve my problem.

Has anybody approached the Consumer Protection Authority with their 8ta problems as yet?
 
On the bright side, those 120 gigs should last you a whole year. :)

hehehe good one and true. I should look on the bright side. I received a reply from the 8ta rep asking for some info, so now waiting to see what happens.

I went to Telkom direct in Menlyn Mall when I wanted to get the 10+10 gig deal and I went up to the consulted and he said :

no hello or can I help you, he said "what do you want" and I was with my mother so she can do the contract for me since I don’t have debt and I can’t open a contract without credit .................... (This is totally stupid, why do you need to be in debt to get a contract)

Anyway while we were talking to him he just stood up to answer his phone and talked for 5mins and it didn’t look like an important call he was just laughing and talking about what he did during the weekend and when he came back he doesn’t even apologies he just sits and continues to nod his head while still on his phone, and im not a very patient person so I just smacked him in the face with his stupid pink forms and we left to go to MTN

The 8ta rep on this site contacted me a couple days ago stating that he will look into my complaint and today I received a phone call from 8ta informing me a technician will come out to my place on Monday. Thanks 8ta rep, hopefully the tech can solve my problem.

The one consultant at the shop was picking her nose and when a (white) lady came in and said "sis" in a loud voice, she wiped it on her t-shirt, got up and walked off. The other staff pretended not to notice
 
The 8ta tech was at my house this morning, he ran some test and will send the results through to the department working with the signal side of things and I ought to receive a response in about a week. .
 
8ta is switching network load away from data towards cell phone calls. More money to made with calls. Also worried about ICASA. Data contract "small print" protect them from bad or no service.
Get use to slow speed and no connection as TELKOM, in financial trouble, will not provide 8ta with more funds for more towers.
 
Its been two weeks now since the 8ta tech was at my place, I phoned the call centre to inquire on the progress, but the lady told me she cannot see the progress of my request is as it was submitted to a outside division dealing with the towers etc and she does not have a contact person so I must wait.

Realy good service!!!
