8ta speeds suck! Report here... [solved!]

Looks like you have a SIM problem? Your routing on a pure 8ta connection should not go anywhere near MTN.

"I" have a SIM problem....??? I have nothing of the sort :p

I think 8ta has a problem with my 8ta SIM or their system is  confused.

Still no repsonse to the 4 emails I sent to the [email protected]. Logged a complaint on their website yesterday and apart from an automated response nothing (although I did get a misguided sales person trying to sell me a phone contract!!:wtf:)

Last night, it seems 8.ta was OFFLINE in my area! My modem would not show any signal, or say 8.ta or anything!
Yet, in the network registration manual search, I could see Vodacom, Cell C, and MTN! But where was 8.ta?!

It's getting.....

.....WORSE

ping 409ms, D/L 0.19Mbps, U/L 0.01Mbps, I still have bandwidth left for the month...

What else can I do ? Hellopeter?

Lol like the above post, try find some where closer. I got places from 5km away to test my speeds.

Jeez, I didn't even see that! That's speedtest.net automatic choosing the best server based on ping, why on earth would it think Gaborone is the best server based on ping??????

A little better this morning but not much: http://www.speedtest.net/result/1622641370.png
(At least it's using the Rosebank server!!)

When I first got my 8ta connection and did some speed tests it also defaulted to Gaborone, so your not alone in that :D

Can't wait to get home and surf! The new month is here! :D

The one slither of hope is that 8ta managed to fix the issue and I can get back to 600kbs downloads like I have had 2 moths ago.

Will post speedtest results tonight.

In that case, here's my result:

Too slow to even run a test without.... whatever.

Gonna send that mail - if things do not improve 8ta can go $@&^ themselves.

Dude, I must admit I'm not getting these speeds on my old modem... I upgraded to something that supports DC-HSPA+ and running new firmware and Mobile Partner. Since I'm using my E372 my ping is awesome! Used to be 110-140 on my E220.

Don't know if that alone made the difference!

I just hope it isn't a modem problem!

I got my E173 for free at work and really really do not want to buy a new (and expensive modem).

I see the E372 sells for about U$254 - where did you buy yours and for how much?

I got my E372 for free at work as well :D Don't stress it, I can't imagine that the modem alone can make all the difference...

I own the e173 and get average of 5mb download and 1mb upload with an average ping of 60ms.
Im happy to keep using this modem.
