Watch it get worst as the evening progresses.

Why is there no comment from 8ta about this crappy network speeds?

Just goes to show, you can't take Telkom out of 8ta.....but I was really hoping 8ta would be a customer focused company, unlike Telkom.

Guess I was wrong.

wow all these comments and they are not saying anything. I am worried i thought they were changing

..and so the '8ta lag disease' spreads.

8ta's speed problems are even affecting me now http://www.speedtest.net/result/1608716617.png

I've noticed that both the lag and speed get progressively worse as the evening advances. Earlier today my connection was okay when I got back from work (~80ms ping to www.mtn.co.za), but now it's just terrible (+900ms ping to www.mtn.co.za) for the third night in a row. Last night it even spiked to +1400ms ping.

Well, seems mine have also slowed down badly. Used to get like 3mbs down. But hey...coming from Cell C hell this is still heaven to me! lol

I was slowly considering getting the 10gig special....but perhaps it aint such a good idea after all.

Hello, I live in Walmer Port Elizabeth. After months of fantastic speeds, suddenly since yesterday I can hardly connect - ping of nearly 700ms from 94ms, downloads less than .5Mb/s. Something gone wrong with Telkom?

I'm back!

Got a Vodacom K3765 modem this afternoon - as expected Vodacom's hardware don't like 8ta (sim not recognised - maybe they're afraid off the "Lag Virus" :D).
Vodacom is expensive BUT at least they deliver reliable and consistent internet speeds (in my case about 4mbps DL's).

Anyhow, on planet 8ta....

Gonna phone to get legal advise tomorrow.

Just to be funny, or spiteful, or...

After 11pm (by 2 minutes...):

Seems like all the throttle/shaping fears can now be laid to rest. It looks like certain areas fall under specific policies/rules.
My connection is better (note not close to where it was 2 months ago...) after 23:00.

Jip after 11pm improved, right now it is 45ms ping. Anyway they can go F themselves. I didn't sign up for my connection to be useless between 6 and 12 everyday. Watch it be a problem for most of the weekend as well.

And this morning it is smooth again.

I have had the 10gig contract since they started it and it has been running like a dream until last Sunday. Do we know if it is a problem on their network or something new (throttling) that the implemented?
