8ta under fire for debit order change

Virgin mobile did the same thing. Took money off my account early. They also claimed that they sent smses out - I never recevied it.

Isn't the law they need confirmation from you before they can take the money out early and not just to inform you they are doing it?

I would like to see if someone can go class action here, teach these corporations a lesson for just doing what they like.

I am having the exact same problem with Nashua Mobile. I had the debit order returned because they moved it forward by 5 days and debited me an incorrect amount.

Don't see the problem if they notify people. Nedbank & a few other big companies do it.

Notifications from them mean squat, you signed for a specific date. I reckon anyone taking action on these d1cks would win,but we live in a very complacent society where we regularly enjoy a good butt kicking from time to time. Its the African way!

Love a good butt kicking myself.

I don't mind if they need to take monies earlier than stipulated in ym contract, as long as it is with good reason (festive season, public holidays etc).

What I do mind thou, is that they didn't notify me. And no, don't send the sms to my data bundle number, I have not plugged it into my pc since the beginning of January, you have my cell number when u need to query late payment or to pass off to telemarketers, please use that, mmmkkey, thanks.

Disgusting!!! And received no warning sms either. To phone their customer care is a nightmare.

Can we make a list of all telecomms companies that did this over December?

1. 8ta
2. Virgin Mobile
3. Nashua Mobile

Any more?

I would throw my toys all over the place if a company debited my account earlier...

Thankfully I pay most of my accounts manually since I don't trust most companies with my banking details.

wooooh those thieves at standard bank must have cashed in on a few million with all these failed debit orders....

If they couldn't do it on 31 December, why couldn't they wait until 3 Jan, like other companies.

If they can't take it on the agreed date they should take it later not earlier.

This is most unfortunate. Previously I had the horror of facing such an issue.

Nashua Mobile used to debit my account for nearly R950, and I only have 2 topup 100 contracts. This happened for 3 months, every time I had to go to the bank on the same day and reverse the charge. I've now placed a stop order against Nashua, so everytime they debit my account, it fails before they can even process any monies. I am more satisfied making the effort to get to a Nashua branch and pay for my service manually.

I have now taken all I can off debit order and placed stop orders against those companies that refuse to not let me pay manually. Its on thing to mess around with a customer's time and effort, but its another thing to mess around with a customers f'ing MONEY.

If that happened to me, I too would throw my toys out the cot

When we signed the contract an agreement was drawn up under which we agreed to pay for the the service on a specific date. who gives them the right to change that date? and does it matter if they advise you? If they want to debit you early, they should have an sms sent out with an OPT IN service, not OPT out.

**** these corporations!

!@#$ idiots. Luckily I had some money left in the account or would be facing bank charges and snotty messages from ABSA about being overdrawn
