8ta & wireless router question

I've heard there is a very cool 3G Netgear Router at Incredible Corruption going for R1400.

The beauty of this baby is that is runs on the speed of the USB stick you plug into it, so if the stick modem is 21Mbps, you'll get 21Mbps from your router. (runs on the USB speed). Futureproof for South Africa.

Stay away from Netgear for 3G USB modems - their support is terrible and only very few (and only older ones ) work !
Netgear generally make good kit, but avoid like the plague for USB 3G modems. There is a new one with built in 3G, I have no feedback on this model yet.

Go with TP-Link, you will not be sorry!

I have used a few Netgear 3G routers and have not had any problems - had to update the firmware for the Cell C E1752, though.

But my best one is the Huawei D100T, don't know why, it is quite a simple router (& doesn't work with new modems, but works great with the E1820), and the worst one is the Dovado UMR.

@ Digital_Salad

I have been connected with no down time or interruptions on my TP-Link 3G to 8ta for 58 hours now..... No drop in connection at all:-)

A friend of mine bought the Netgear router & extremely happy with it.

Works on most/all Huawei stick modems, just need to do a firmware update first.

I'm also gonna get the Netgear. ;)

Hey guys, I'd like to get the TP-Link Router, but it isn't Gigabit. Could anyone recommend a Gigabit router with 3G support (I have the black Cell-C Huawei USB Stick but I believe it will work fine with 8ta sims)? Alternatively is there a 3G Modem which I can just connect to the WAN port of a Gigabit router (heck, might I even be able to disable the wi-fi and router functions of the cheaper TP-Link and just use it as a 3G Modem connected to an Airport Extreme?)

My TP-Link router is connected to my Gigabit switch.... It has 4 ports for LAN.

Awesome, thanks.

I'm pretty noobish with networking, I assume then that for wi-fi you then plug in an access point to the Gigabit switch (as the TP-Link is not acting as a router?)
