Hey guys,

So my iBurst contract is in its final 2 days and apparently they do not need my business as renewing and adapting my contract is turning into a nightmare...plus it appears to downgrade my contract upon renewal comes with a penalty....So I've decided to make a move.

I had a look around and the new 8ta 10GB for R199 deal looks pretty sweet. And the 7mb/s dongels are nice and affordable....

So all and all iBurst can go FFFF themselves....their lousy 500 kbps is now seemingly useless....

Anyway, my question is how to then run this new setup so my PS3 is also still online??

I see CellC is offering the D105 but I am not sure if the 8ta 7.2mb/s sticks are supported with this router ( it looks easy as hell to set up though)

Do you guys have any suggestions in this regard?

I am on a bit of a tight budget however but looking for something easy to set up as my router skills are not that awesome....(my nunchuck skills on the other hand...)

Thanks in advance....

im using the hauwei B970 router with my PS3....

Otherwise you going to have to run it through your PC/laptop

I'm using an old telkom marconi wireless router (R100 Gumtree) with the 3g connection shared under win 7. Works like a bomb with any wireless devices that i connect to the router but would probably work just as well with cable connections.

Wait... so there is no router/modem combo that can share this connection without a computer of some description (be it PS or PC)??

This is very device specific. Some routers do have a fall-over facility. If the DSL goes off then you continue to browse via 3G. It also depends if the USB dongle is compatible with your router.

In theory it should be possible, but first read the device manual to confirm. Also ensure that the dongle is compatible with the router.

Glad to hear that!
Do I have to take my B970 in to be unlocked or is it ready to rock and roll?!

Mine was plug and play.....I have used MTN/8ta in there before this deal came along

Only snag with using the B970 is in order to check balances you have to remove the sim and place in a cell then run USSD code to access this info

Waiting for my SIM to be delivered so i can give it a go!
On the 8ta platform, do you still use 192.168.1.1 via the web browser to access the router settinhgs? Or do i need to follow a different route?

Check what your default gateway is on the IP you receive from the router. That is the IP address to access the router via telnet or your browser.

This is my setup:

1x 8ta Sim card (10GIG promo plus 10GIG in the evenings)
1X TP-Link 3G/3.75G Wireless N ruoter
1x Vodafone K3565 USB Modem
1x 3G Coupler connected to external antenna (Signal was fine...just wanted better:-)

My connection is constantly connected and i am getting fantastic speeds!! With my evening 10GIGs i use this for bigger files like movies and kuk

hope this helps

Just got the 10gig promo, stuck it into one of my computers, speed awesome, 'bye Iburst (been with them from the start)

Problem I also have cabled network @ home & wanted a router with ability to take 4 ethernet LAN ports plus Huawei E1820

Came up with the following

CDD461AM : Mecer 802.11b/g/n Wireless ADSL2+3G (USB) + Router W/4 Port Switching Hub IEEE 802.11 b/g/n Standard for 2.4GHZ Wireless LAN USB port for 3G Dongle *Wireless Connection up to 150Mbps ICASA Approved (TA-2010/1451)

Anyone know if the 3G Dongle support includes HSPA+ ?

Oh yeah price = R455inc ex JHB

Very good to hear this!

I just got my TP-Link 3G/3.75G Wireless N router yesterday along with an adapter for my Poynting aerial (wired rubber sleeve slides over USB modem). I'm just waiting for a 21Mbps 8.ta USB modem.

I'm keen to experience the constantly on connection of this router since the old Linksys + 3G option card modem drops the connection between 20 and 100 times per day, and that's with a rooftop booster aerial. Worst is a connection drop during Internet banking...

I've heard there is a very cool 3G Netgear Router at Incredible Corruption going for R1400.

The beauty of this baby is that is runs on the speed of the USB stick you plug into it, so if the stick modem is 21Mbps, you'll get 21Mbps from your router. (runs on the USB speed). Futureproof for South Africa.
