Anyone with a ADSL background and or Telkom work experience that can give advice?
After the recent thunderstorm in Cape Town, I suspect our Telephone lines took a direct hit. Intermittent DSL syncing, very slow speeds, then very fast speeds then no connection, then slow connection. The telephone is crystal clear one moment, then completely dead, then noisy the clear then down and so it goes...
My router had the following status a few moments ago:
SNR:
Down / Up
9.9 6.6 db
Line Attenuation
Down / Up
36.0 32.7 db
Data Rate:
Down / Up
1061 469 kbps
Max Rate:
Down / Up
3388 508 kbps
Power:
Down / Up
19.5 12.5 dbm
CRC:
Down / Up
156 154
My MyBroadband speed test result is as follow:
Ping 2660ms / Download 0.17Mbps / Upload 0.01Mbps
Telkom fault had been logged and the latest SMS received yesterday afternoon refers to the fault being "with our cable section" for what its worth.
Currently the telephone is completely dead after working 10 minutes ago...
What information can you add to help me have the 4Mbps line restored to its former glory?
I have no alternative way of connecting as I am in a hole for WiFi and mobile services.
