I see there was an update available 2 days ago. Trying that quickly.

How can roll out huge iOS updates to everyone in a day or two, but it takes a number of days to update an automatically?

Edit : Update fixes the crash

A mystery rolled in a conundrum........

Do they use the same delivery mechanism?

O/S updates aren't transmitted via the App Store are they?

Anyone with Instagram want to try something?

Press the bottom Reels & then Canera at the top. The menu comes up with speed, length, effects etc.

When pressing ‘effects’ - it instantly closes the app.

Curious if anyone else experiences?
Like this? Seems to be working fine for me (13 PM)…
Check your WhatsApp, just sent you the vid.

You don’t think think it’s a legit question to ask why auto updates don’t auto update when something is available? Really? Do you question anything at all?

Who owns and runs the App Store?
What’s the process and time that I should wait?
Is there consistency?

OS updates could take weeks to roll out if auto update is selected- the same for apps ?

Not really a mystery, especially if you have access to Google...
We incrementally rollout new iOS updates by first making them available for those that explicitly seek them out in Settings, and then 1-4 weeks later (after we've received feedback on the update) ramp up to rolling out devices with auto-update enabled.

Craig Federighi, Apple's senior VP of software engineering
I update everything manually anyway.

When the device checks for updates, it builds a list of all apps that need updating. All of those updates will be installed assuming these criteria are met:

The iOS device must be on and/or asleep.

The iOS device must be connected to power and/or battery is almost full.

The iOS device must be connected to a cellular data network and/or Wi-Fi.

Updates larger than 100MB will only be downloaded over Wi-Fi, never cellular. You can also disallow updating over cellular.

If device is in Low Power Mode it will not update.

My Samsung was also on auto update. But every time I opened the play Store, there was always an app or two waiting to be updated. It seems auto update does not mean immediate update. I found the same on iOS. So I check once or twice a week and update the necessary apps.

@Dolby

See, if you really cared that much, you would’ve googled it yourself.

Like I’ve said before, on the Android section of the forum people answer questions & assist.

This section of the forum is a bit more unfriendly and unhelpful - but there are people that give real assistance and even try replicate errors.

Thanks for the help

It’s the manner of asking questions that is the difference.

Every “question” of yours comes across more as an accusation or a hidden agenda.

Plenty of help to be had/given if the person asking it is genuinely perceived as needing it.

Ja nee

You painted yourself with the troll brush on this side of the forum.

It's on you to change the perception that people have of you now.

I clearly remember the posts where many of us tried to help only to be mercilessly trolled by you, so don't cry and act all hurt when it's a situation of your own making.

How would you have worded it?
A smiley at the end?
