Anyone tried their online application? Or is it better to go to the branch?
Or can I send someone on my behalf to create an account for me, with my ID and payslip of course.

I would probably still keep my ABSA account, for a few months at least.
I only have 1 debit order going off (Afrihost), it should be easy to change that.

I did mine via their website, very easy. Only had to change my payslip at my employer (my company don't allow banks to change the payslip)

I moved over last weekend.
Got the card during the week.
Did one transaction. Also added funds to the account.

At the online banking site, it says my account does not qualify for ebucks, I'm hoping it is because my salary hasnt gone through yet, will only at month end.

Some people also have card colour complexes, like they'd feel embarrassed to pull out anything less than platinum. I couldn't care less if it's making me money...

Umm ja mine is kinda like that. I had a platinum card and asked for a red card (because my favourite / lucky colours are red and black). The banker was like "but it's platinum. it's better than red" and I was like "for you maybe. i like red, not that weird metallic grey". Fortunately their private bank card is black printed on red plastic so I"m happy with that now.
