accident with no insurance help

I think you're a knob for not having insurance. If you'd bumped into me I'd claim from my insurance and have them come after you. Dont see why my car should be repaired shoddily because you dont have the foresight to get insurance.

Sorry, but I think you're the knob for not having anything constructive to post.

The OP clearly knows he needs insurance, but at the time of the accident he didn't. That's why he came here and asked for advice. I'm sure he's learnt his lesson.

Get over it. Life isn't always perfect, and sh|t happens.

Damn... Well then it should become illegal very soon. Someone needs to protect these idiots, not only from themselves but from people with too much money driving too fancy cars and affording too smart layers.

[-]Then again, he did drive a Golf[/-]

Its not acceptable that he drove around without insurance and its perfectly acceptable for me to state my opinion on the matter.

If you would rather offer him advice on how to manipulate some lady into having her vehicle repaired by some shady backyard panel beater to save him costs then that's your prerogative.

I'm sick of people driving on our roads with no insurance and have no qualms about saying it like it is.

As asked yesterday...

Even if he has no insurance and runs into your SLK 500 AMG, how does this bother you if he doesn't have insurance? I'm more than willing to except your answer if you can supply me with what the difference is between him having insurance and not. How does that affect you?

It affects all of us because our premiums will go up in order for the insurer to not only remain in business but also stay profitable. Remember, f-tards without insurance are something the rest of us who are insured pays for - whether we claim or not.

The best thing that can happen to the uninsured is if they write themselves and their cars off in a ditch where no one else is hurt. This will also do the human gene pool a favor provided the uninsured have not yet had time to procreate.

Like Roux said, it effects everyone at the end of the day. Secondly if your insurance cant recover from the other party (because there is nothing to judicially attach) cos he has no insurance or money (which is likely since he\she couldnt afford insurance in the first place) then you will lose the excess that you had to pay your insurance.

Your premium will increase with or without him having insurance ;) Do you think your risk profile will be lower if more people have insurance?
Point is, if you have insurance, no matter who drives into your car with what you are covered. Who pays and when it's being paid is not your problem. That is why you have insurance.

Actually the OP is the one that has grounds to complain about insurance if someone drives into his car and not have insurance. Since he has no insurance and neither does the other party. Meaning he will have to sort it out himself.

I get why everyone is so upset. I also hate paying a crap load of money on insurance and other people don't pay. But I know for a fact if something should happen I'm covered. No matter who or what drives into my car :p

i dont see the part where you have started reading again

i have mentioned it a few times ...i know that i am at fault ...i will pay ...if roles were reversed i would not want my car fixed by some shady backyard person ....

what im trying to avoid is the high costs normally associated with panel beaters when claiming from insurance

if she has to go to some panel shop i would agree on that quote .....

Get cover without an excess. If not possible, would you rather lose a few grand than having to sit with nothing?
I would much rather lose a few grand and have my car back than have nothing at all.

The reason costs are high nowadays is because they replace components, they dont repair anymore. Given the choice between a repaired bumper and a new one, Id want the new one.

you again not reading nicely....if she goes to a panel shop i would pay weather she decides for them to have it repaired or replaced ......the thing im trying to get in your head is that when her insurance company gets involved all of a sudden there is a 200% hike cos its insurance and the panel shop can now get more money

You're missing the point, why must I spend more on an excess waiver because of someone that doesn't take out insurance? I can understand if you cant afford insurance but I refuse to believe that 3rd party insurance is out of reach.

@Pitbull, regarding excess, say someone were to crash into me without insurance, i claim from my insurance, i have to pay excess, chances of getting excess back are slim imo

As a private individual you're more likely to get shafted, insurers have set rates and they send out assessors to make sure that the panelbeaters dont take liberties. They also have more bargaining power.

You would be amazed my friend.

Point being, I just hate this holier than thou attitude that started in this thread. The dude doesn't have insurance for sure. So what the auntie did and all will get sorted. Even if he has to waiter every evening for the next 2 years he will get it sorted. And this is the case 98% of the time. Yes you do get dealt a bad hand from time to time but such is life. If i have to forgo a couple of R 100 for an accident and have my car back I would gladly do it. Some people life with a risk of losing everything they have should they be in an accident but they can't afford insurance. It's a risk they carry, you don't have that risk and can sleep peacefully at night because of it.

Think about it this way:

You have insurance on your house because if your house should burn down and you don't have it you're fk'd and will land on the street. Now your neighbor has the exact same fear but doesn't have insurance. You can sleep at night knowing you're covered, I doubt he ever has a good night's rest.

Insurance is to give you the insurer peace of mind, not the other people. Stop worrying about other people... you need not worry since you're insured :p

IMO it depends on the person who knocked you .....and if he accepts the blame

cos i mean alot of guys would then change the story and try not to pay
