You will when they push your premiums up.
Then I'll shop around for cheaper or equal quotes. As I said, I will be inconvenienced for sure

And it would be clearly that intention that would make me as the other party in the accident demand you pay for the repairs in a manner I demand, not how you feel they should be done...and that would entail complete bumper replacement, as well as the car going into a chassis jig to check that the chassis is still straight.
I have 100% cover on my vehicle at retail cost and no excess. He can run into my are all he wants. He will foot the bill with the insurance I'm covered with. I will be inconvenienced for sure. But I will suffer no financial loss what so ever.
Well, working off my last quote that I got from a panel beater when my car was involved in an accident...
They replaced the front bumper, front right light, suspension, wheel, tyre, front right quarter panel and put the car in a chassis jig and sprayed to match... the quote was just on R70k.
Granted thats a Mercedes so it'll be more expensive than a Clio, but replacing the bumper, light and respraying won't be much less than R8k for a Clio.
Well that photo puts more perspective on things.
That was NOT a gentle bump, the bumper will need to be removed and replaced entirely, the underlying structure on the right rear of that Clio is compromised and will need to be fixed.
My guess is your bill has just jumped to about R20k minimum to fix the car.
Well done to you then. And what will happen to your premium and insurance profile, when your insurance must foot the whole bill? Also what are your monthly premium on that kind of insurance with no excess? Or do you get special rates/kickback from AF ?
no no thats not the pic of the car ....thats a google pic...the light is the only thing missing
My damage was just to my front bumper & left fog lamp. For an '06 Opel Astra 180 it was as follows:
Bumper R4731.94
Bumper Spoiler R400.12
Spot Light R841.30
Spotlight surround R 168.66
Grille R314.28
Strip / Assemble R900.00
Paint R1500.00
Sundries R120.00
Sub Total R11,587.68
Vat R1622.28
Total R13,209.96
And it was a light fender bender at under 20km/h....
Ahhh ok, but as you can see from the reponse... that picture is a car that looks in good nick, but there is still problems if you know what to look at.
We would need to see a pic of the vehicle before we can give you an idea unfortunately, your verbal description is probably not accurate to the actual damage to the vehicle.
dude, from a cost point of view, your cheapest option will be to contact her insurance and be forthcoming with the payment for her excess.....
is that a possibilty ...i just pay for her excess ....or would her insurance company want me to pay for damage all together then wouldnt that make her liable for excess
sorry but again before other people jump and make conclusions ....i am willing to pay but trying to minimise costs ...
They will reclaim the full amount from you and repay her the excess she paid.
Unless she says she reversed into a pole and you just pay her back her excess. That however will count against her on her claims history since she would have been the guilty party.
it is due to reasons like this that i prefer the UK laws/regulations regarding insurance. Each person needs their own insurance & will get into poo if they drive without it. Yes, the person has to have insurance & that will pay out no matter the vehicle they drive. Permitting it's a class vehicle they have a license for... Ofcoz
If everyone had 3rd party insurance, the insurance companies would be at less risk. Our premiums would all then be that much lower...
