Hi All,
Background, small office 2 floors (working repeater on top floor but ADSL router is dead) - the ADSL wifi router recently died and we are looking to replace with something that can auto fail over to 3g and revert - there is no fiber in the area that we are aware of, but we might be moving to an area with fiber this year. I've spoken to a few shops who have routers that can take a 3g dongle but they all point me to my service provider to find a working dongle for my router.

Can anyone recommend something suitable for a small office (I'm so far interested in the ASUS DSL-ACT52U and DSL-N17U - but the ASUS supported dongle page does not list anything for vodacom south africa). Does anyone know of working router / dongle combos that are currently available - before I try phone vodacom 111 and hope their info is accurate.

If there is a post that already has current details please forgive my ignorance (first post) and just point me in the right direction :)

Draytek have some ADSL routers that also support 3G failover. This would probably be easiest from a "non-technical" point of view.

Alternatively, get a WAN router that supports OpenWRT (ADSL routers with the modem built-in, and OpenWRT support are few and far between), and has a USB port, and you can use an ADSL modem (DLink 2500U or equivalent) in bridge mode, a 3G modem plugged into the USB port (just make sure it is supported under Linux), and configure MultiWAN or MultiWAN3 to fail over between them.
