I have been without internet connection for a week and batttled between my ISP (MWeb) and Telkom. What has transpired i tried three different ADSL routers (2 different netgear of which one is brand new and a telkom router). All three do not work at my place. Then I went to a neighbour to test the routers and only the Telkom router works. Then I went to the store where I purchased the new netgear router - and all three routers work perfectly. Then the neighbour borrowed me an unusual router "intellinet"; this router does pick-up internet connection. Today still only this intellinet routers works at my place - and telkom insists that there nothing wrong with my line.

Can anyone offer any explanation into this bizarre experience? What I know is that Telkom has had problems with the exchange in my area - and every now and then telkom says the problems is resolved - the next hour the problem is actually still attended to.

Post your SNR & Attenuation stats from your routers web interface.

You can try maybe changing the ADSL modulation in the router settings to ADSL (not ADSL+, ADSL2+, auto).

What happens when you cannot connect? The adsl light flashes?

All lights including the DSL are stable and green except the internet light is Red. How do i change the modulaation setting?

If the light is solid then it probably wont matter if you change the modulation.

When you change you username to: guest@telkomadsl
and your password to: guest

Can you get onto www.telkom.co.za?
