Yup, either your line or your exchange is having some serious issues. We're currently watching your exchange for you so by this time tomorrow we can establish exactly what the issue is for you.

In one of the traces sent to us the OP's packet loss was happening on the router. We're investigating on our end as well for the OP.

quick update: Got a call from Telkom this morning and they're busy checking things on their end as well.
Also no issues this morning so far which is nice for a change, continuing to monitor
Here's the data for your exchange:

Your exchange is not looking too healthy to be honest - there was downtime and there are some very unusual spikes, as well as a high baseline measurement. In addition, while connected to our trial accounts we picked up on multiple port errors on your connection.
I am quite certain that Telkom are experiencing problems at your exchange.
We will continue to monitor this for you on an on-going basis.
Thanks. Telkom gave me a call and told me they were going to check out the exchange, and my line has been down completely since 2:45pm. Hopefully that's due to them working on it, but will update you when they get back to me.
Oddly enough that is actually good news. The line will go down if they are actually working on it.
I sincerely hope that you come right soon.

Good news. Let's hope it helps.
Since Telkom changed my port this afternoon (12:15-12:30 on the graph), everything has been really good! No extended or major packet loss at all. So the issue seems to have been definitely related to the exchange. Here's the graph for today:

I'm continuing to monitor, but looking good. Finally! Fingers crossed my line issues are solved, so I wanted to send my gratitude out again to everyone who assisted on this thread, especially Crystal Web and TelkomZA who I've been communicating with directly. You guys have really been amazing thank you
That is actually quite bad, 122ms on 1st hop indicates exchange congestion.
I see very brief spikes at the 1:35pm and 8:10pm mark, but the rest looks pretty normal? Let me know if I'm missing something
Nothing to be concerned about really - they're occasional spikes. You appear to have a far more solid connection now. Great news!
Change the resolution of the chart to only show those most recent red bars and let's see what your latency is like then. Also don't worry much about all of the hops. Monitor your router, your exchange, and your final hop in the charts unless you suspect your ISP or the peering links have issues.
Also run pathping to your choice of destination from the command prompt when you notice these issues.
Pingplotter has an alerts system - set it up to alert you each time the second hop exceeds 20ms. When that happens, run pathping and post the results here or email them to us and we'll try to see what's going on.
You can also get in touch and try another account for a bit to test with and we'll see what data we can pull from our system
As an aside, based on our tests your exchange was performing rock solidly for a while until midday today, at which point it went a little berserk and has had some hiccups since then until right now (looking at the live data)
