WOW - what a disappointing product - I read all the information posted on this site, and took it with a pitch of salt, thinking that people might just be expecting a little much from ADSL.
And I have to state... I apologise for not believing every word!!
ADSL is a bunch of rubbish - I connected my ADSL for the absolute first time today, and started a Linux installation for my firewall. I downloaded the new apps, etc... at a phenomenal rate of no more than 4Kbytes / sec. Telkom - you can say whatever you like, you can come up with whatever excuse you want - your product is no better than analogue dial-up, the only benefit is that you are online all the time, which is not all that great considering that it takes a damn day to download something anyway.
If anyone had to ask me, which many people do - I will tell them not to get ADSL - I would rather get a wireless connection or something else.
As for the competition - why doesn't our government stop trying to prevent other ISP's and service providers from providing alternatives, and just allow us to start accessing the Internet like the rest of the world – for heaven’s sake, what is the idea here, is it to help Telkom make more money, or allow a nation to thrive??!!
