ADSL in Fourways area

Rondebosch problems +1.

I thought bonuses were supposed to be payed to people who did MORE than their job required of them... not people who found ways to cut corners in doing their jobs in order to save money for bonuses. Meh - why am I surprised...

We apologise for the delay in information provided regarding your post.

SAIX has confirmed that they experienced concerns on the network.
Unplanned maintenance on the exchange was the reason behind the connectivity issues.
SAIX Technicians have now confirmed that the maintenance has been completed and any connectivity concerns has been resolved.

We hope this will shed some light on the situation.
Have an awesome day further... :-)

Hi Farrah - unfortunately the issues are still not resolved! I have spoken to Telkom twice today, and both times they told me that they are busy with the fault and can not give me any ETA regarding the completion.

I haven't had connectivity since Friday!

Same

Same, no connectivity since Friday, no resolution, just BS crap answers from Telkom.:(

I contacted Telkom as well, logged a call and was told that maintenance is being done on the Faerie Glen exchange in Pretoria. The general call number I was given is 64ATK/090209. I can connect, but speeds are very slow and time outs are frequent.

spoke this morning again to 0800 375 375 and they are "still testing". I was also told, that no technician has been assigned and then speaking to a supervisor was told that this is an exchange problem and they will generally fix those type of outages within only 7 days.

I will now get in touch with the accounts department (0800 500 200) to get a pro-rata refund, seeing that it is now day 5 without service.

I am in the same position.I wish you luck with the refund. It is total incompetence by Telkom as I use the internet at home to connect to work and work after hours from home.

refund is not a problem, I have done this before. When I spoke to accounts just now (10217) they said that as soon as the line is up they will do a pro-rata credit. I am failing to see why I should pay for service I dont get...

Well done I will also telephone the accounts department when my line is working.I thank you for the information as i have never tried before.

Question: What Routers are you guys using?

Netgear DG834. Over the weekend I also bought (and then returned) a Linksys WAG160N just to make sure that it was not my router. Router syncs perfectly on my side and SNR/attenuation is good.

I am still puzzled that no-one at the call-centre is able to tell what exactly is wrong and I am starting to wonder how many ADSL users are affected in those areas.

Sorry as I am not at home could not check the exact model number. In my call to Telkom last night the call centre claimed 45 people were affected.I wonder why I dont believe him judging by the posts on this forum and the people who are not members of this forum and furthermore formites who cant log in at all.

Yes I highly doubt if any communication exists between first line, second and third line support at Telkom.

It's a lot more if you add Lonehill Crawford Prep and College schools who've been out since Friday as well. There are about 1000 legitimate web users in the Computer labs and Media Centres who would have been impacted to date (calculated on lost scheduled usage and classes).

These Telkom guys make me think of those penguins in Madagascar, when they're up to no good. "Smile and wave, boys, smile and wave":)

I am still at work, but I have received an email notification from my NAS, which means that ADSL is working again - not sure if SNR/attenuation is the same... and if the sync-speeds are still 4MB

Nothing has changed my side, so I assume you'll find everything in order...

just confirmed - everything up and working --- will phone accounts tomorrow for my pro-rata credit on the ADSL-access and line-rental...
