ADSL Line Confusion.

Hi

Right, I dont even know how to start this thread, I applied for a ADSL line a while ago at MWeb, as they were processing my request, they came back to me and said the area I am staying in is not ADSL ready, or the infrastructure is not available. I accepted it, even did the test on the Telkom website, doesnt support ADSL.

My neighbor, that is staying further away from town, applied for a ADSL line, maybe 2 weeks later they told him he can connect, and he can.

So I phoned MWeb and asked them how is this possible? They asked for my land line number as well as my neighbors number, they checked both numbers, none of them is ADSL compatible, but he has ADSL.

I phoned MWeb and asked how is this possible, even they cannot explain how this happened, because according their systems the area is not ready.

If someone out there can tell me how is this possible? Because I see this as a little bit unfair.

Send a PM to TelkomZA here on the forum. He will hopefully be able to get to the bottom of this for you.

As you have a land line it is most likely that you can get ADSL ,unless you are to far from the exchange .
Could be there are no ADSL ports in the exchange .
 
That's why you don't let your ISP handle your line.
 
Best is to speak to TELKOM and find out from them. They are the ones who have the infrastructure - not Mweb.
 
Depending where the exchange is... I mean how can 10 meters make a difference?
