Hi all,

I I live in bushwillow Park Estate and I would like an adsl line installation to my house. Telkom arrived today and informed me that I need somebody to come and install the line from the man hole to my house. Telkom don't do it. The technician that I get an electrician or a handyman to do the job. The man hole is situated right in front of my house.

Does anybody know of such a capable person?

I had to do something similar, but much easier, before. Ran an outdoor telephone cable (not always easy to find suppliers of this, can't even remember who I used) across the roof and the yard and then left the one end dangling by the telephone pole and the other in the house. I suppose you would need to do the same - ensure that there is copper to connect on both sides, probably best not to touch Telkom's cables at all.

The problem is in my estate everything has to be run either underground to the house or against the wall in a conduit pipe. I checked in the man hole cover and there is an available line that can be run. I am no handyman expert so I require somebody to do it for me.

I am hoping someone on this forum can assist.

I did mine myself, with some help from my son, as he bugged me to get uncapped. Get a laborer for the day and let him do the digging. I will do it for you myself, but my hourly rate will apply.

At my house I only had to have the conduit run. Telkom did the physical connecting in the manhole.

Correct telkom do it to the man hole. I need someone to run it from the manhole to my house.

I think you misread my post, or I wasn't clear :)

I had to get someone to do the conduit from my house to the manhole. Telkom pulled the cables through the conduit into the house. Maybe the tech that did my line installation was just being generous

Haha. What I need is someone to install the conduit piping from my house to the man hole cover. That same person will be able to run the line through it as well.

Who did you use?

All sorted gents thanks. Got a handyman to do the job.
