How can I find out what is the telephone number of the ADSL line.

For some reason our ADSL line at work is down/dead, the DSL and internet light on the Mega 105WR modem/router is not on and there is no dial tone when a telephone handset is connected to the line.

The switchboard gave me a telephone number, but according to the Telkom Direct shop, that number is a private residential number with no ADSL activated.

Plug in a phone and dial: 101999

No dial tone when the phone is plugged in, hence he cannot dial out. 101999 not gona help. You will have to look at your account for which services you are paying, and by process of elimination determine the faulty line.

You can also call 0800 375 375, maybe they will assist.\

Good luck

PS, when you figure out the number, write it on the router.

The lady at Telkom Direct told me to do that. I'll double check first thing tomorrow morning, try 101999 if I have a dial tone.

I'll go back to the switchboard and tell them the info about the number they gave me.

What is the chance I have the correct number, and the bright sparks at Telkom took that line, gave it to another user and cancelled the DSL line?

All the people that might have known what the number was, either resigned or transferred to other departments.

Best of all I cannot make phone calls to 0800 ....... or 10214. Switchboard cannot put me through to them too.
