Hi guys

So ive had a chat with TelkomZA, the telkom rep. He told me that my modulation was set to ADSL2 and yet my modem still shows it to be g.DMT... Any ideas on what could be causing this? Using a D-Link DSL 2750u modem, the one that came with the Telkom Contract and ive tried forcing ADSL2 by unchecking the g.DMT checkbox

The TelkomZA rep just told me ADSL2 but i assume it would be ADSL2+ since my line was on ADSL2+ before, then got reverted to g.dmt

So if you force ADSL2+ what does it do? Not sync?

Sometimes it does take a while to sync on ADSL2+.

Yeah, it doesnt sync. Ive tried forcing it back when it was ADSL2+ and it synced within 30 seconds. Tried forcing it now and it doesnt sync even after 5 mins:confused:

What's the benefit of having it on adsl 2+? As I said in another thread, mine is set to ALL, but I've forced it to ADSL 2+ and it syncs fine.

But what is the advantage of adsl 2+

SNR Margin at the moment is 12.1dB down.

One of the telkom techs phone me and told me that they moved me to a new port, and thats when i noticed it had changed to adsl2+, now its sitting at g.DMT and TelkomZA tells me its at ADSL2 but its showing g.DMT:confused:

Which package are you on? 10Mbps?

ADSL2+ is for speeds over 8Meg, GDMT is for <8Meg. But (like in my case) im on a Imax or whatever its called and i have to use ADSL2+ even though i only have a 2 meg line because it will desync often if dont select ADSL2+

Its set to all now but i want to use the adsl2+ to check if my line becomes more stable. As is now, it drops randomly

Same situation.

I also set mine to adsl 2+, as my line also lost connectivity. So was thinking mabye forcing it to 2+ will keep it stable

My modem does not have the option to select auto, it has checkboxes with the types of modulation

I've been on g.DMT since 2011 and ive never had any issues. Only started having these random DC's since late October

EDIT: my line just dropped and the SNR margin is sitting at 6.6dB now
