Hi all, help is greatly appreciated. My situation, living in Florauna PTA north @ 012 546 exchange. Am apparently 3.7km away from exchange. Have a 4 meg line with continuous sync of 3 meg, getting a download speed of 2.5meg near always.

My issue, exchange can handle 20megs now, I want a ten meg line with a speed of 5megs. Telkom says not possible, due to stability. Will VDSL make a diff?

All i want is a constant speed of 5meg down! Please someone advise me please!

Unfortunately not. Until Telkom decides to roll out expansion in your area you are just too far away from the exchange.

To be able to get VDSL you need to ideally be within 1km of the MSAN/ISAM.

Damn!

Ok what about a ten meg line? Do you think it will work?

Or is my 4 meg my best option dor now?

You're right on the edge at the moment, there is very little chance of you getting anything higher than your current 3Mbps sync.

Your downstream SNR is very low (6.9db), at 6db you generally experience connection issues. Take a look at this thread to understand what these numbers mean: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/186156-Understanding-SNR-and-Attenuation-Rates

I won't be able to tell you what Telkom's plans are, I don't think they know themselves.
