Hi everyone :)

So my house mate is moving out and he is taking his router with him, so I need a replacement.

My requirements are for it to have 1) wireless n and 2) some gigabit ethernet ports. Any thoughts? I don't need business grade stuff so basically the cheapest option that isn't a complete waste of time ;)

So if you have looked for a similiar type of router, please let know what you went with and how it worked.

Thanks!

I own a Netgear DG834G, 4 ports & wireless! Worked right from the box. Never had any issues for over 2 years. All the best…

Ai julle noobs. He specifically asked for 802.11n and Gigabit Ethernet.

Burn: Get a cheap (less than R300) D-Link DSL-2500U which has 1x 100Mbps LAN port.

Then get an additional broadband router, like the TP-LINK WR1043ND, which has 5x Gigabit LAN, 300Mbps 802.11n wireless and an USB 2.0 port for portable storage.
This router goes for R600 ex VAT. You can also ask Uniterm Direct to preinstall DD-WRT firmware on the router, which is flippen brilliant if you want to do fancy routing/QoS stuff.

Just bought the new Netgear DGN-2200. Awesome modem. Get great wireless signal throughout the house.

I ordered that router from Wootware yesterday. I see it has RJ-11 ADSL Port, RJ-45 Ethernet LAN Port, and a socket for Power Adapter.
I believe it does come with the power adapter, but does it come this those cables? Or should I go buy them from a pc shop?

All the routers comes with their power supply.
I doubt that they'll include cables with the router.

Does it have gigabit ethernet? I am getting conflicting information online.

I recently bought the cheapest d-link model with wireless for a friend and it came with the cables. Short ones but it had both ethernet (bring yellow) and phone cables. Hope you get lucky ;)

You sure its Gigabit ports the page say's that but I got one and it aint gigabit will call netgear sa n let u know

I'm also in the market for a new router

I borrowed a friends Netgear DG834GU and I get a 40% wireless signal at the furthest distance that I'll ever use it. This router is a bit expensive. I have a budget of R700

I'm considering the following :

Netgear DGN1000 - R496 incl- Zaps Online
Intellinet Wireless N ADSL2+ 300N - R 570 incl - Esquire

Anyone who has either of these ?
Suggestions for others in my price bracket?
