Hi guys,

So i have stumbled upon a problem that i am failing to understand with my line. The line was installed at the begging of the year and was working all fine until mid April when i started to get crackling noises on the voice side and the dsl was constantly dropping and syncing at 640k (normally 4096k down). Telkom pulled in a new cable from the pole and all seemed fine and rosy for a couple of weeks i got clear voice calls and an actually improved SNR margin than was it was when the line was installed. Then all of a sudden i am now experiencing issues with ADSL sync where the modem seems to fail to stay connected and that has resulted in my account accumulating over 900 connection sessions for this month only. On the voice side the line is consistently still crystal clear and the short periods that the dsl modem connects the SNR ratio and attenuation are just fine sitting at their normal improved levels. I have tried all sorts of tests (changed filters, tried 3 different modems, and even plugged the line directly from wall to modem) but the problem still persists (ADSL disconnects and can not re-establish a sync but voice line is perfect).

So has anyone experienced such an issue, what could be causing it & did it get resolved? The telkom tech thinks its a line problem , but then if the line is bad wouldn't that affect voice as well, seeing the voice side is clean and clear?? Could it be that new ASSIA system that Telkom introduced is messing up my sync and introducing the instability??Thanks
