Both companies are switching priorities to corporate space - the consumer space has long been the feeder of funding to then scale up and increase their Business Portfolio.

It isn't you, its just business for them. With BCX and Telkom all but collapsed in that space thus with Afrihost - there is a gap to compete with MTN and Vodacom for Business Portfolios. Hence acquisitions.

All of their resources are deployed in making Business Clients happy - again just business. Corporates pay billions - consumers don't.
Both companies? Afrihost doesnt even offer fibre to the business.

We actually started as a business ISP and hosting company.

Has any of this been resolved, as I've also started to notice massive packet loss spikes frequently

Hi,

Could you explain how this process would work? I am keen to get as far away from Afrihost as possible, but I have no knowledge or experience with Cool Ideas. I'd appreciate it if you would be willing to answer the following questions:

- Does your company have 24 technical support?
- What is the average turnaround time to resolve an issue?
- Do Managers at your company take or return calls? Afrihost managers are terrified of me and refuse to take my calls.
- What is the turnaround time to switch my line over to your company?
- Does your company have mobile tech support who will visit my residence to investigate if I have a problem? I'm not talking about outsourced tech support. I'm talking about branded employees of your company who visit clients to resolve internet issues.

Only god knows how Afrihost won ISP of the year 8 times and they don't have support that could go clients homes to resolve internet issues. I look forward to your response. I've laid a complaint with ICASA regarding this month long issue and I will see what happens.
A better question to ask is - if your standard SLA terms are not met - can I take you guys to court for breach of contract.

I bet his answer is - no as a consumer - you can only escalate within CI and no external body can help you.

The truth is - no companies support is ever going to meet your needs, your timelines and your wishes.

He will try his best to assure you that their service is superior to AF but in reality it is on average the same.

That actually brings an interesting question - are there any governing bodies that regulate them? All the ISPs.
Might want to Google "Paul Butschi" ;) that is what the PB in PBCool stands for

You are not dealing with some normal employee..

Throw my 2 cents here, I think the guys that really do give a damn about our industry we serve have someone important looking on here... Going back into Lurking mode
The service i have got from CISP have only ever been top quality. Has stuff broken and gone wrong? Yes, but its quite quick and Paul or someone from their team is here posting updates etc. This is also out of office hours and its one of the reasons i have ben with them for 6+ years and will continue to stay with them and recommend them.

Not many ISP's will you see come out and say "this broke, we working on getting it fixed", a lot of them just leave you in the dark.

I work for an online store and we take pride in our customer service and we expect at least a 90% happiness rate, do we get it wrong and do some of our partners let us down? Yes, but you also can't please everyone but you can only try, and this is something i sadly have to say a lot of companies can learn about. Customer service in this country in general is poor.

If with Afrihost have you raised it with the reps here?
Hi

Migrated from Vodacom to Afrihost like 2 months ago give or take, and since being with them I have experienced Packet Loss, ive contacted them today and they raised it to Vuma now, so im guessing its gonna be the same loop as what was mentioned here

Man these guys are such losers @PBCool is trying to help but they rather just throw words and sit with the problem instead of taking the help.

Who are you referring to?

The guys complaining about Afrihost and when cool ideas offered help at no cost to them but rejected it and asked stupid questions like Do you have 24 technical support I assume asking for 24/7 support which is crazy

Oh, im open to @PBCool assisting me, im still new to Afrihost and only raised it with them today, where they now escalated it to Vuma

Give them some time, the issue above Afrihost has done everything within reason. The next step is to move to another ISP and see if it persists.

We are independent of Afrihost at every level on the network front, the only ISP in the group that does it that way.
