ADSL upgrades: what if you cannot get 10Mbps?

I live in PvR and my line syncs at 10Mbit. ADSL checker also reports that 10Mbit is available if I use my number.

I tried a few numbers of businesses in the area and some report 10Mbit whilst others report 4Mbit.

Wonder why the inconsistency (two exchanges in pvr?)
Probably a mix of old and new DSLAMs in the PvR exchange building.

This is the case for me too. I know someone on the same exchange that gets 10mbps, but I'm stuck on the older 4mbps DSLAM.
How can I get Telkom to move me to a newer DSLAM ??

Well my exchange is 10 meg capable and dslam but because I am on some old infrastructure UMC box I can't get it so stuck on 4 megs :(.

It is also my situation and I'm struggling to have my service moved over.

When are Telkom going to give us the option of modifying our services (like ADSL) online and such?

I'm still waiting for my 10Mbps upgrade that was promised in 2010 :(

The A in ADSL became very apparent when my line was upped from 2 - 4. I regularly get 3,7 down, but only 0,45 up. Doesn't bother me much, but still odd.

Haha - 10Mb. I just want a stable 4Mb. Once upon a time I had 6Mb, now I have 3Mb. No explanation just a f-off from telkom.

Telkom: Endeavor to fix the network I am paying for dammit!!!

@MickeyD Any idea on when/if Telkom plan on upgrading Kenwyn beyond 4Mb?

I had the same issue...I had 10mbps, then 8, then 4, then 3 and eventually 2...

It took a lot of fighting to get it back up to 10mbps and stable.

Sorry to resurrect this thread but I felt my question is relevant to this thread.
According to Telkom's website, Fast is 1meg, Faster is 2meg and Fastest is 4/10meg. Should 2meg be Fast, 4 Meg be Faster and 10meg Fastest?

Clients who can't get 10mbps should be given 2 X 4mbps lines bonded for the same price to compensate for their lack of infrastructure. And we are talking YEARS since 10mbps became available.
