ADSL vs 8ta - Is 8ta worth it

My 8ta at home is awful. Closest tower is 2.2km away. Even with an aerial on the roof I can only get under 1mb/sec. Cell C gets me 4-5mb/sec but the buggers have increased the fee 100% since last year. Cheapest seems to be Cybersmart 10Gb ADSL where you get a hefty discount if you pay a year in advance

This is 3G !!! It is not ADSL Plug and Play when you plug cable to modem and that all.
In my case naked stick (1820) worked at 0.2-0.3 M. After connecting stick directly to antenna story changes.
Now router tell me up time (no disconnection) 12d 00h 17m. Speed 4-8M. Ping 50-70msec local and 200-300 international.
Fancy results from last speedtest (mybroadband): local - 4.3/2.65/65, international - 5.6/3.7/230 :wtf:
Moto - want to save money - be creative. Move modem, get antenna, don't complain.

Adsl vs 8ta vs mtn uncapped

Hey guys, just to continue on this thread.
1. Adsl at R400 - R450 for 5 to 10 gb at 1mb line (assuming they do the upgrades as promised).
Stable and cheap gb, but most expensive.
2. 8ta 10 gb, disdadvantage is 2 yr contract
3. 8ta 60gb at R1800, you could wipe out all the bandwidth though in 1 go!
4. Mtn uncapped at R199, disadvantage 2 yr contract.

I will have vc 2gb mofaya as backup and can manage with 5gb data.
I amleaning towards 3 or 4, atleast with mtn, when i am being throttled,i can use the vc deal, and just download on mtn non stop. Also get free modem, so save R500.
Why i am leaning towards mtn is their network should be better and less congested?

3 should read 60gb + 60gb @ 1800

And MTN's is not uncapped really! after downloading (i suppose) 3GB your speed drops down to EDGE!

Yep, but after hours is not really an advantage, maybe a little.

Thats where my vc backup comes in, once i am being throttled, i switch to vc. Thereafter k can dowload anything on mtn, 256kbps is 2gb per day.

Are you not downloading?

Just now was watching Ken Block Gymkana V Full HD. Dovnload speed 8,9 M.

Im using 8ta as well, and i have to admit i get much better speeds than both Mtn and Vodacom. At times i struggle to even get a connection with Mtn, yet with 8ta no problem. It all depends on coverage im afraid.
