So is it safe to assume the Meissner Sinbad recommended has a common battery size?

An update here - just replaced my UPS batteries. It uses two of the 12V 7.2Ah motorcycle batteries in series. R240 bucks each at my local security shop.

I would be surprised if motorcycle batteries perform anything like UPS batteries. The former are designed for short term heavy discharge, while the latter are designed to run at continuous output power for longer periods.
