We had a brief outage this morning, should be sorted out now though.
Are you still having troubles with this?

Hi Afriguy
It is working now - but your engineers should really not think they are dealing with idiots and tell them that the Afrihost APN is being affected by Rain. What nonsense is that?!

Hi guys. Again getting the same issue where I do not get an IP address on Afrihost LTE but I do get an IP address when using mymtn LTE. Will this actually ever be resolved?

Really sorry about that :(
Please PM me a ticket ref# that I can follow up on.

I don't know if my sim works with the mymtn apn but LTE hasn't been working for me the last couple of days. I get good signal but the router can't seem to connect. It connects fine with HSDPA though.

Vodacom LTE works fine so it's not my router. I created a support ticket at Afrihost now so I'll see what they say.

The problem is that Afrihost has too many LTE users for the Afrihost APN. They need to change their contract with MTN to allow more LTE users onto the Afrihost APN.

I've turned off LTE on my phone. There is just no point only having data some of the time when using the Afrihost APN.

I cancelled cause its no use LTE just does not work like its supposed to on the afrihost apn.

Just a note - I have posted this before. While a phone gives issues, an LTE router does not. So it is still viable for a home LTE installation.

No, I had issues with a router. LTE was not working for a week but is working now. When it works, it works great though!

Its so nice to see how Afrihost is just IGNORING this issue. They ask for evidence - its provided. Then they obviously see its an Afrihost issue and they go quiet on the issue. I have resent the info to the helpdesk every morning I am unable to connect to Afrihost LTE and I dont even get the usual Copy and Paste repy "we need to provision your sim for LTE". This has to be the worst service in SA!

We certainly aren't ignoring the issue. I've got your PM - and AfriMan has already done some follow ups around the LTE queries brought up here.
My inbox is a bit full at the moment, but I'll get to everyones messages as soon as I can.

lol. This morning I get this. No, I didn't change APNs I just tried out LTE again last night and it doesn't work until I turned it off this morning.

We’ve noticed that you haven’t connected to your Afrihost Mobile Data via APN for 8 hours on 2783xxxxxxx@afrihost. This worries us because you may have reverted to an old APN setting on your device, which means you could be on MTN’s mobile data (and could incur unexpected charges from them). Please check that your APN is still set to “afrihost” and not “myMTN” (or any other setting).

This could happen if you’ve done any OS or firmware updates recently. Some devices also need you to specify an APN for Personal Hotspot or Tethering modes, or they use a default APN.

Having the same issues. And afrihost finally replied to a week old support request. Well done guys

Any feed back on this ?

LTE is useless tonight.... tried download a 200mb file which took for ever with downloads speed up and down between 0b/s and 1.4mB/s. Took almost 10 minutes download. Constantly having time outs on webpages as well.

First time in a long time having these issues.
