Afrihost APN not working

I have a problem with the Afrihost apn. It kills my phone's data connection when I select it. But my data works fine with the Mtn Apn. I have chatted many times with Afrihost WhatsApp support. They don't seem to know what is causing the issue.



Please help

Are you using Air Mobile or the legacy SIMs?

Air Mobile:
APN Name: AirMobile
APN: ws.air.mvno
APN Type: default,supl

Legacy:
APN Name: Afrihost
APN: afrihost
APN Type: default,supl

The name is not important but the other two are.

Some devices need you to enable authentication. Set it to CHAP

I'm a Legacy user. Been using Afrihost for over a year. The Afrihost Apn suddenly stopped working without me tampering with APN settings.

I've tried the Afrihost apn above and tried my Sim in other devices. No luck.

I'm fairly certain the issue is on the Afrihost side where they've disabled data access for some reason. Who knows.

Was the SIM from Afrihost or it's your MTN prepaid SIM?

It's a legacy Mtn Sim which has been working well with the Afrihost apn for almost a year. Then suddenly stopped working. So I doubt it's a Sim card issue.

I've been using the same Sim on my Samsung S8+ and now on my Samsung A52s.

Please note that MTN deactivates SIM cards that have not been used on their network for over three months.
Were using the sim for calls or SMSes?

No other settings.

Have you logged into the clientzone of which the number in question is linked? Does it show the number there and it's status?

The Sim card is working and active in every way on Mtn. The problem is that the Data connection deactivates when I choose the correct Afrihost APN.

Probably just needs to be reprovisioned.

I upgraded an MTN contract SIM years ago which was working fine on the Afrihost APN... When upgrade was done, no more Afrihost data as they changed the contract terms to not allowing the use or registration of alternative APNs.
