Afrihost, Axxess ADSL network problems

Heya guys

Just a quick update, and to update newcomers
We're working closely with MTN on a resolution - currently seeing degraded traffic across both IPC and Mobile links, countrywide.

Afrigreen is stable and working well, so if you are having troubles with your DSL account you're welcome to PM me your DSL username and I'll generate the details for you.
You'll have to update your DSL details in the router - you should only have to change @afrihost.co.za to @afrigreen

I'll have more updates posted as soon as they're made available.

does this apply to axxess accounts as well?

also didn't have very good connectivity this morning. luckily my vox carries me from 6pm to 6am, and i leave the house at 6:20am . that 20 minutes was a killer!

I'm not 100% - I'm sure they have access to Afrigreen too. You'll need to get in touch with them though.

Common sense dictates that if you are having continuous problems with something, you change it...

But i guess common sense is not so common after all....
 
No connectivity the whole morning, that will teach me to have Afrihost mobile as a backup to Afrihost DSL.

I have not looked back for a second since moving to Vox.

Got on average 2.4 Mbps immediately went to an average of 3.6 Mbps at Vox on a 4 Mbps line. To me that says everything. The low throughput while at Afrihost was blamed on the exchange. Funny that it is not an issue after moving to Vox.
 
Both MTN and Afrihost apn is dead on LTE or extremely slow on 3G.....
 
Update: The ADSL networks of Afrihost and Axxess saw degraded performance thanks to a distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack on MTN.

"The DDoS attack on our carrier provider is occurring between their UK and AMS peers which is causing congestion on the upstream [network]," Axxess said.

MTN has mitigated the attack and the two ADSL providers said that service should be returning to normal.
 
OFFICIAL UPDATE:

Traffic levels are normalising nicely on both Mobile & DSL links. Our teams will monitor traffic throughput closely for any anomalies.
