Afrihost, Axxess ADSL network problems

Who's the hacking group responsible for this?

Interesting times

The Sith aka AfriHost.

I like the way an unverifiable enemy (DDOS) is blamed instead of admitting that it is the cheap-ass switching gear they have in place. Hey Gian, remember that Dark Side story you opened with? Guess what, Darth Afri, we don't believe you.

This man does have a point

Guess what, again this morning issues with AfriHost. Waiting to see which external force is blamed for this downtime? My free FNB connect account is running out of data with all these outages. Time to move on.

Sorry about this, we are seeing issues again today :(
Are you on a Mobile or DSL connection?

Not much help when you can't access any of those due to no connectivity...

That is why they sent sms notifications as well.

Don't know any other isp that will go to these lengths acknowledging that the fault is on their side.

Unfortunately not with Afrihost anymore, bu they do seem to be trying hard to sort out this mess that MTN created for them.

Dsl this side. Line went down at 8:20

I am with Axxess, line is down as well. Going to call them to see what they can do. Do Afrihost and Axxess share the same backend provider or kit?

They have this on their website:

We are currently experiencing authentication problems on mobile and adsl services. Please note that engineers are working on resolving the issue as soon as possible. We apologise for the inconvenience.

3 of my client are running on AfriHost. One fall over to iBurst, the other one is still working and the last one is running on FNBconnect till the data runs out. It is Sunday, so not too much of a worry, but 2 times in a week of this kind of downtime is just not good enough. I am involved with many ADSL providers through my clients and others have issues, but nothing compared to what AfriHost is experiencing.

Spoke to Axxess call centre, DDoS again, engineerings still working on the problem.

Axxess don't have any alternatives to get you up and running, they have been down for 12 hours now.

Very sorry about this :(
I'm happy to help get you back online, just need the DSL usernames and I'll generate new details for you.

Not 100% sure if that's the cause, seeing failed authentications from our end - so does seem to be different from Fridays issue.

If the issue is not resolved by tomorrow morning, I will PM you. However this is not the first time, there is an issue with authentication (or outage on the ADSL, mobile or hosting platform with AfriHost). A temp solution is good for now, but what will AfriHost/MTN do in the future to avoid these kind of issues or do we as clients just have to live with it?

There was an issue on Friday last week, not sure if that's what you're referring to?
Will keep an eye out for your PM.
